While those of you who sew continue to sew (thank you ver much) here is our destination

Amphibous Assault ship The USS KEARSARGE.  It has been fun chatting with our chaplain, who says they have opened a new space for our Sailors and Marines to  unwind called Holy Joe's Café.  Are we ready to stock it?  Yes!

EVERYTHING in Holy Joe's Cafe is free to our guys and gals!

So, here's the request list:

Beef jerkey covered by Jack's Links

Sunflower seeds

Gum (no hard candy or chocolate)

Coffee--all sorts, both instant, packetts and brew type (I'm saying some tea, too.)

Single packet drinks

Personal hygiene products

DVDs

The crew loves any TV show. I've noticed the popular ones are: Dexter, 24, Prison Break, NCIS, True Blood, Sons of Anarchy, House, Spartacus. I obviously wouldn't expect you to get all of these, but it is at least a selection to choose from.

Board games: Storage space is slim, so bulky board games may be difficult. I know that Cranium, Catch a Phrase, and games like that are popular.

Can you add to the list--of course. (No though, on books.)

Lots of cards and handmade pictures from the kids--think SPRING AND ST. PATTY'S DAY

Pack what you can in gallon ziplock type bags so the group can help pick up their godies. And of course, the pillowcases

It's now just a stitch over 1,000 needed.  Chaplain says: 1028 total

216 female

812 male

In the meantime, keep those sewing machines tuned up and continue sewing!  '

Love ya

Carol

Krista ---my son is also on the Carl Vinson :) whoo-hooo packers
Krista, isn't it wonderful when you find a picture?! I know the first time I saw my son, I about jumped out of my seat. And yes, laughing and crying all at the same time.
OK, I told you guys that my 2 boxes turned into 3 because I found some Fiber One bars at a discount at Sam's because the boxes were messed up. I was supposed to mail yesterday but didn't get it done because my freezer went out and I had to get a new one so my meat didn't ruin... anyway, today when I was at Sam's I found a variety pack of Land o Lakes Hot Chocolate on sale. 42 packages for $2.24, soooooooo I bought 5 of them. haha   My 3 boxes have now turned into 5! I promise I will mail them on Saturday!

Sorry about the freezer, as we lost our refrigerator earlier this year.

HA HA on the boxes growing and growing.

That boat is going to tilt when all those boxes arrive! . :-)

LOL Kim ---- we should use that as advertisement :just add love and watch them grow :)

Kimmy ---ha ha talk about pitch and roll rofl , if chappy only knew what was about to come aboard ! might as well pipe them aboard

Oh Kim...

sounds like me...  I had my boxes filled with pillowcases and card games....  then was at Taco Bell the other day...  was running errands and thought I would grab a quick bite.  I asked for a couple handfuls of hot sauce 'to send to my son in the navy'...  the manager overheard me and told the gal to give me a case!!  So I had to send some of those...  and dollar tree had the individual drink mixes so I picked up a bunch of those...  had a coupon for granola bars from Safeway and the store matched what I bought...  got to love the way two boxes can multiply...

I am finishing up my pillowcases. I have 45 and am 5 short of what I said I would do. I am sorry. For sure 7 girls and 38 for the guys but some girls would like the guys pillowcases since they are animals.

Anything else I need to know? Anything else in the box? How to fold? How many can go in a box? Anything on the Box? Address? Let me know cause I will be shipping out tomorrow. Thanks

I just folded like I do at home--I put mine in a parcel post box--saved a lot of money shipping that way.  They will only be a little longer in arriving to the ship.  I've got you covered on the other pillowcases, as I sewed 10 extra just in case (just in case--ha ha)

Thanks for your help and have fun at PIR--hug that new sailor for us :)

No worries, I sent 5 extra because that's what fit in the box...so I guess the # will work out in the end!

Ladies look at the link on the Molly main page...  it shows where our Kearsage is in the world...

Hello, ladies.  My package arrived!  I got an email from the chaplain which came at 4:30 this morning.  Here is part of what he said:  "I wanted to thank you for the gift of pillowcases and snacks that you sent to the KEARSARGE. During a time like this, it really means a whole lot to the crew, more than you will know."
