FIT Division
Does anyone have an idea on how long a recruit can be in the FIT division to pass a run test?
I got the dreaded phone call last night that my SR failed the final PFA due to coming up short on the 1.5 mile run. He said he is getting a chance today to retake it and if he passes he can call me to let me know he grads with his division this coming friday. I have researched about the FIT div but cant find anything about a deadline to pass before a possible discharge. Does he have weeks?months?

I don't have a real answer to your question, but as long as he is working hard and trying to pass, I wouldn't worry too much about 'weeks' or 'months'. Just keep encouraging him to do his best. If he quits and no longer puts forth the effort to pass, that's when the Navy may consider discharging him. As long as they see he is trying, they'll work with him until he passes. Send those encouraging letters and remind him that it doesn't matter when he graduates, just the fact that he DOES graduate! Good luck!

I talked to his recruiter today and he said they will help him pass even if it takes months.

Not to be rude...but that isn't true. They give them a certain amount of time (dependent on the recruit). If they don't pass after that time frame they will send them home.
Think logically if they can't pass the run after a certain amount of time the government is still paying them to sit there and try to keep running. If they have such a hard time, now doing it and even after special one on one training, how are they going to pass it next time in the fleet? Odds are they won't.

Logically thinking...What is the time frame? That was my question to begin with. Just need an idea. He had the flu a week ago. Im thinking he is just weak right now. The flu takes alot out of you.

are we still able to write her how do we know if she will recieve mail? does the address change?

I had the same question RWG. I got the call on 6/15 at 7pm as we stopped for dinner after driving 600 miles toward GL. My son couldn't pass the running test either. It killed me to have to turn around and head back home without seeing him. Thinking "logically", I would say the timeframe they allow them to keep trying would depend on how or if their time improves over a couple of weeks time in the FIT program.

Hi Audrey, I called the human resources at the base. They will let you know the status of your recruit. Very friendly staff. They reassured me that by looking at my sons history/ Records in bootcamp that they expect him to pass. My son was very sick a week before the final PFA. I hope to get a call soon that he passed. Not one of his letters to home sounded negative about any tests coming up. He actually liked bootcamp. Looks like he likes it so much he decided to stay longer LOL.

They told me to mail letters to his old division. They will get it to the recruits. But they may pass and go to A-school before it gets there.

They give them a time frame based on where the recruit is lacking and how much time they need to make up.
I guess for example...they give you 3 weeks based on your status. If you dont get it by then, you dont desire to pass or you just dont cut it. Hopefully it doesnt come to that.

Do you think if i call they would tell me what her status is, I have not heard anything from her. or how she is doing, I wanted to write to her but i was not sure if she would get her mail.
