Hi Silvia..My son has a PIR date of 8/13 as well. He is in ship 14 div 277. There is a group for our PIR date under the groups tab if you would like to join. The group goes fast & it is sometimes hard to keep up, but you will get some good information & needed support.

It is nice to finally see one recruit in the same ship and div as my grandson. will you be going to the meet and greet the day before? he lived with us before he went into the navy. We miss him a lot. he is a good guy (can't say kid too often) he is now 20. To me it is the best decission he has ever made for himself. makes them grow up and have responsibility. I am a mother of 3 and a grandmother of 10 soon to be 11. They will be fine. good luck to you and your sailor.
My daughter left on June 15th. She graduates this Friday, thank goodness. Yes, the first phone call was horrible for me. As soon as we hung up, I cried myself to sleep. I think I cried for at least a week. Then the box came. Wow.... that was hard. All of her things and no daughter. You know it's funny, when my daughter called, that one of the first questions I asked her. Haha. I have only talked to her two times since she has been gone. I swear I have written her about 20 letters. : ) She was in the DEP for nearly a year. I knew she was leaving. Nothing, and I mean nothing prepared me for how difficult it was to say goodbye at the airport. Yes, I followed the bus to the airport. I only had about 10 minutes with her, but it was worth it. Thank goodness we only live about 5 hours from Great Lakes. With only a few days left before I see her... I am now finding it hard to get to sleep. I am just sooo excited. I am also glad that this site is here. I have met up with a few other moms for dinner. It really helps to talk to people that have gone through it. Makes you feel a little less crazy at times.
