My wife is currently in bootcamp  ... She is going to A school Meridian, Mississippi for the PS rating.

I am her spouse and I have been having trouble planning and with our daughter who is 10... I am not getting answers from recruiter and hear mixed messages. I can not plan my trip there unless I get some details...

After her graduation, How long can I spend with her? Hours? Overnight? Weekend? I am flying there from San Francisco.

When she goes to A school I know after the school she will get a leave but how long is the school? I have been told 3 weeks, then 6 weens and then 10 - 12 weeks? I need to know because her family lives in the Philippines and need a lot of help. She asked of me to help them while she is in A school and I need to know to plan my return flight and my visa there with their government. I do not want to miss her leave or liberty.

I hear that she is allowed her cellphone and laptop for A school. Should I bring it to graduation? Should I bring her cellphone or a disposable phone in case she loses it or gets it stolen?

Thank you,

Brian

There is no overnight liberty and she will most likely fly out the day after PIR.  PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will tell you more about what to expect and how to plan and also what you can take her at the airport.  She cannot take anything back to the RTC. I suggest that you join that group while you are there and also go to http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for her PIR date. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups.

PS "A" School is about 5 weeks, but that time can be longer if your Sailor must wait to class up. The Rating Infomation Card for that rating, https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ps.pdf, will tell you more.

Hey lemon! We musta been writing at the same time! Well, with that being said, lemonelephant's answers are correct but pretty much everyone else's will be their own experiences so just add that to what I already put.

:o)

Please understand that the answers you may get on here are only going to be what has happened in others experiences and is not guaranteed for wife.  Anyone can say right now that you'll only get Friday liberty with her because that is the norm for the moment but it changes all the time.  For example, my A school was in FL and I had all weekend with my family but now they usually ship out early early next morning but that was more than a decade ago (13 to be exact).  I can say that I have never heard of 6 weeks off so soon as she won't have earned that much leave by that time.  She can also always get set back but lets hope that doesn't happen!  Is she close to graduating yet?  You can bring her stuff to her but you'll have to meet her at the airport to give it to her, she can't have it on RTC.  She really won't know the leave situation until closer to the end of her A school, RTC has nothing to do with that.  Even though I can't offer you any definite directions to plan for your trips, I will hope and pray for the best outcome for you and her.  Good luck and congratulations Navyhubby!!
