My son SR-RLS left for BC on Nov 8th arrived in Chicago around 9pm and we got the GL call around 1am. It was a difficult departure but for a greater cause. Upon arriving home from work Thursday evening we found "THE BOX" on the front porch with his personal affects. It was sad but bitter sweet at the same time. I am extremly proud of him and his decision just miss our daily chats. Now I anxiously await the package with his mailing address info along with PIR data. So glad to have found this site and the availability to communicate with others.
My husband left November 10th! How are you doing?
I'm doing alright I guess. I mean it's definitly tough but I know that crying the whole time he is gone will not make him get home any faster. I've just been writing to him a lot and trying my best to keep myself distracted for right now. It's going to be a long 2-3 weeks before I hear from him which I'm not too thrilled about but it will all be soooo worth it come PIR day! Unfortunately I will be in Disney with my family Nov 27-Dec 4th which means his first letter will likely sit in the mailbox until I get home which dissappoints me but I will write to him and mail letters from Disney while I am there even if I can't read his until I'm back. How have you been doing?!
I'm so much more upset than I thought I would be! We started dating in High School years ago and dated long distance for a while... and I'm not much of a crier... so I thought I would be sad but still be my normal self. Not so much, though! Ha ha. Although I guess it has only been 2 days. I can't wait to get his address because I've already started writing too! It's awesome you're going to Disney, that will make the time go fast while you're having fun. I had my mom and sister move in for a few months while he's at BC and A-School. I know being in the empty house would just kill me. You're so right though, it will all be worth it on PIR day!
Yeah I know what you mean with this being hard. I live alone now too since he is gone. I've been having friends & family over like crazy. Yesterday was such an awful day I drove 30 miles to spend the night with my mom haha (she laughed at me when I walked in the door looking like a train wreck). It will get easier once we start getting letters in a couple of weeks. Hang tough! Can't wait to hear something from him!
My son left the 10th also. I hope they all meet up!
Yes definitely... if not we will all meet at PIR or the night before. can't wait to see if any of us will watch our sailors graduate from the same division that would be awesome!
Hey! My boyfriend also left on the 9th of November. This truly has been the most difficult week of my entire life, but hopefully it'll get easier. It has to from here... Does anyone have any ideas as to the PIR date?? I heard a rumor it'll be 1/14/11 but has anyone heard that from their sailor yet??
I got the form letter on Monday. He left 11/9 and his PIR is 1/14!! Most of them will be but I'm sure there will be a few that have a different PIR it depends on how quickly their division filled up. If I were you i would assume you were PIR 1/14 and go ahead and join the PIR group so you can meet some of us!
I'm so jealous... my hubs left the day after yours and I have yet to get the form letter!!! I want it sooo bad!
Where did he swear in from? My son left then too. I am in the same boat ( so to speak) as you....
Cleveland!
