Hey guys I have a few questions, hoping you guys can provide some answers. My fiance is currently in bootcamp. His graduation is Friday June 6th. We planned before he left to have our wedding ceremony that weekend as well. I need to confirm a few things ive heard. 1. Is it against the rules to get married the weekend of PIR? 2. If the sailor is from illinois can he go home even if its a little more than 50 miles from Great Lakes? 3. My fiance will be on hold 9 days before he goes to A School in Virginia, will he have liberty while on hold?

If you have any answers or any additional  information that will help me I will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

As i said before, I appreciate all of you alls advice and expertise, otherwise I would not have asked. We got married on June 7th, the day after PIR and there was no trouble.

I have been thinking about you the last few weeks and wondering how everything went PIR weekend.  Were you guys able to get married with no issue?  I hope so!!

Hi. Thats so nice of you to check on me. We did have a wedding ceremony the day after PIR and it as the happiest day of my life. We're married and we've updated his page 2 with myself and our children added. Everything is working out well. Thanks for asking

I am so thrilled for you!  I had my fingers crossed hoping that was the case!  Congratulations!  I'm in the same boat with you!  PIR is Friday, ceremony Saturday!  <3

OMG! Congratulations...!! Im sooo happy for you! Keep me posted.

I am so glad it went smoothly, congrats!

I did not happen the same for us.  When he was briefed for liberty his command said no new tattoos and no marriage during PIR weekend.  Every command, every ship is different.  So he is following the rules as he should and attended the counseling class today and got the signature from the instructor.  Next is the CHIT which he will hopefully have time to fill out tomorrow.  I'm happy it went well for you Brits!  And it will for me, just a little delay is all.

If you don't mind, which school was he checking into, Jessica?  That is a detail which may help someone who hopes to marry that weekend in the future.  If they know their sailor is going to a certain A school, that it would be more difficult than other schools.  In general, if it is one of the very short schools, or the PACT program, they are usually less strict than the longer schools.
