Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Helping your loved one during bootcamp
I am a Navy mom and I can tell you that it is difficult during bootcamp to not be able to speak to your child but we made it through and he has now been in for 2 years. I am very proud of him and what the Navy has done for him. Hang in there. You will be two years out before you know it.
I want to share that when my son was in bootcamp, I wrote him letters daily. One of the things that I did for him in his letters is that I wrote a poem of encouragement in each one. I wanted the letters to be meaningful rather than "I am good, your sister and nieces and nephews are good, the rest of the family etc. Although he needed to hear that we were OK. I wanted him to know that he is not alone, how to lead, from his toes up he has this. That was what I focused on.
For graduation, I gave him his book of encouragement and then published it in his honor. If you are interested, you are welcome to copy any of the words of encouragement and send to your recruit. Here is the link

Hello TouchofHeart63,
Thank you for sharing. It is most inspiring to read how you lived through it. I was thinking of writing to my son every day, but I want to make sure I say what can help him. So I will write three times a week. I will start now so that when I get his address I can mail them right a way.

I just send 2 texts messages to my son's cell phone. I send him pictures of the furniture I moved around our house. I know he will not sees it until he got his phone back, but he will see them soon as he get his cell back.
