I know we are all overjoyed about our sailors coming home after PIR so let's get all of our questions answered here.

Ma'am,

Recruits graduating Dec. 17 & 22 will be granted leave and will be able to travel home.  Those graduating Dec. 17 will have their leave expire on Dec. 28.  Recruits graduating Dec. 22 will be granted leave that will expire Jan. 2.  Recruits are responsible for paying their own way from RTC to their home and then pay for their way from home to their next command for A School.  Once they are at their next command, they may request to be reimbursed for part of the travel costs.

Respectfully,

Traveling home the Sailors will be required to wear their uniforms because they have not phased in at A School.  A letter will be given letting them know what is allowed and not allowed while on Leave.  They cannot drive a car or consume alcoholic beverages while on Leave.

Our Sailors will not be allowed to bring their cars to A School.

This is a work in progress and I will try to answer questions as they become available to me.

Have a good day.  Kathy

As far as I know they have 30 days a year, but that it is earned over the year. The 30 days is not given to them all at once. So they will be in the hole and will have to earn that first. Susan
Ok. Guess I'll wait for his call to see what he wants to do.
jfarm, you don't sound dumb at all. We are all learning together. If you have not been a part of a military family (I have not) it's like entering a foreign country. Keep asking your questions and if we have the answers we will answer them and if we don't we will get Betsy to call the Public Affairs Office, :) Sorry Betsy, couldn't resist:)
Susan
Thank you, so much! I do feel like I have been dropped in a foreign country w/o a translation book. I don't know the story behind Betsy & the Public Affairs Office, but it sounds like it could be rather amusing! You may regret telling me to keep asking questions, though.
I have been calling them all week. Pretty soon, we will be on a first name basis, I'm sure. lol
The woman there is so sweet that I don't mind calling, at all. She told me to call her next week to find out more information, so I can't disappoint her. :)

Betsy
Maybe I should call her, too! How can I get her #? Then I can be on a first name basis, too!!!!
Can I get in on this BFF with the PAO too? Seriously though, Jfarm, the Navy is a whole 'nother culture, with a different language, traditions, laws, governance. Not only that, but it changes dramatically over time, as all cultures do, and even though I spent 20 years as a Navy wife 15 years ago, the Navy is completely different now. I will say that now, like then, the dependents associated with the Navy welcome questions and will drown you with helpful information.
Susan,

No problem, lol I still have some unanswered questions anyway, so I will be checking in with them next week.

Betsy

Hi everyone,
This is a great site and I am new to this. My son is Nick and is scheduled to graduate 12-17. How did you find out that they would definitely be able to come home after graduation? I was not sure if he would have to report to A school first then come home for the holidays? He is Ship 03 Div 23. I am so glad that you all are posting this information, it is a big help. We are excited to go to graduation on the 17th maybe we could meet each other also. Gods Blessings to you all! Thanks Anita
Anita,

There was a post on the Recruit Training Command FB page about them being able to take leave. Then I received this message from someone today.
