He left June 16, and they were supposed to fly out of Nashville but ended up going up in a van driven by an 'old man' (my son's words when he called me from the van, lol), and he called me at 10:50pm letting me know he has arrived.  He sounded good, but tired, and it lasted about one minute.  Told me about 'the box and the form letter', which thanks to this site I already knew about, and that I will receive it in about two weeks.  I refrained from going all 'mommy' on him, so I was really proud of myself!  I watched a youtube video on what happens at boot camp, and that has helped ease my mind somewhat.  I've already started writing him letters, well...one so far, and I'm just going to number my envelopes so he knows what order to read them in.  Hopefully, he will notice that they are numbered, lol.

I was so happy to hear from him, even if it was brief.  I miss him so much, but I am so proud of him!!!

I'm so glad you heard from your recruit!! It helps ease some of those nerves your having when they 1st leave.  I hate to tell you but the worrying won't stop until he is back in your arms again! Keep those letter coming!! Talk about everything! My husband appreciated all the letters I wrote it helped him to visualize the real world again.  I put current events and anything I knew he was missing in those letters... he told me that was what got him thru those tough weeks there.  If you haven't heard it yet keep the phone close... You will never believe how you will stalk the mailman during mail days & holding the phone close for those far & between phone calls home... You will get another phone call pretty soon! If he remembers the #!! my husband forgot my cell # and I ended up having to write him the # in a letter! lol. It's a tough phone call for them... they finally get to hear a voice that isn't one of the RDC! try to stay strong and encouraging!! let him know how proud you are!!! At this point they want their mommies!! Hang in there and trust me the time will fly and you will be in Great Lakes watching you son become apart of one of the Finest military Branches in the world.... HOOYAHHH...

Thank you for your kind words!  Yes, this 'no communication' time is so, so hard!!!  I've already got letters ready to mail, as soon as I get his address.  I ramble in them, just like i'm sure I do in real life lol!  I want him to feel a part of things here, even though he is 'there'.  The box arrived today...and that was so surreal.  Seeing his toothbrush and his phone got to me.  I'm saving the box, of course.  My phone goes everywhere with me, and I make sure it is turned up alllll the way!  I don't know if or when he can call, but I'm not going to miss it!!!  LOL!  And phone numbers...LOL, I wrote them down on a piece of paper and he folded it up and put it in his wallet.  Just in case!!!  LOL!  That is a funny story about your husband forgetting your number!  We just don't memorize numbers like we used to anymore LOL!  It sounds like your husband is finished with basic training...am I right?

I can't wait for graduation!!!  I'm still waiting on the form letter with his address and the PIR date.
