For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I missed the phone call :(
My boyfriend left November 5th for MEPS in jax, got to great lakes late november 6th. He texted me while he was waiting at the airport for the bus to arrive and then we texted our goodbyes when the bus got there. I figured thats the last I would hear from him considering I heard they only get one phone call when they are at BC saying they made it safely and I knew he would call his mom. I woke up to a missed called around midnight and a 7 second voicemail saying "Im here. I made it safe. Ill write you as soon as I can. I love you". I feel horrible that I missed it! :(
Also, I am new to all of this so any info and advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the input. I guess on a positive note a voicemail you can save and listen to again while a phone call you cannot. Do you know how long it typically takes to get their address and when/if they get a second phone call?

The same thing happened to me on Tuesday. He called me when they got to the airport and I thought that would be it. He ended up calling me again while I was in the shower. I now keep my phone with me at all times. I feel terrible that I missed it too, but just know that he didn't take it personal. I have read that they can only call a few times and can only write on Sundays. We can write as much as we want so you could start writing now and then you will be able to shower him with letters. I was in boot camp myself and there is nothing better than getting mail at mail call especially when you are having a rough day. They can get letters and pictures. I am taking random pictures of things you normally wouldn't think was a big deal. Like me wearing his favorite outfit and random shots of me doing stuff. We talked about staying connected even though he won't get to contact me like usual. He is my best friend and I miss him like crazy so including him in what I do even though he's not there is almost therapeutic! :) I also read that we get a letter in the mail maybe a week into it or more that will have their address and they can start writing on the second Sunday they are there. We should keep in touch on here and see if they are in the same unit for boot camp and see when we each get the first letter :) stay strong girl, they need to know they don't have to worry!

My boyfriend left Oct. 24 and I was new at everything as well. I can tell you now, it gets hard but honestly being on this website made me feel so much better. I would watch videos of how the graduation will be like. He should be writing you soon. I read it would take awhile but my boyfriend started to write me just after 3 days. You'll hear from him sooner than later via mail. :)

Young ladies, I posted this blog to help new members find their way around this site. Besides the PIR group you should join one of the wives, fiancees and girlfriends groups. The PIR date along with other stuff is on the form letter, you'll get this anywhere from one week to three weeks. Be patient. Start writing your letters and number them in case he gets them all on the same date. Good luck. Stay positive. It's a lot of reading and clicking on this link and that link but there is no way around it.
