My son called me tonight to say he was in Chicago and they had just left the USO and were on the way to meet up with the other Sailor Recruits and wait for the bus, then texted that it was his last text and he loves me.  I am sure I will get a phone call in the next couple of hours.  I was super excited for him until I heard how nervous he was that last call.  I guess I would be nervous too, though!  It's a huge change in someone's life and especially when it is their first time away from home.  The only tears I have shed so far are tears filled with PRIDE.  I'm trying to stay positive and upbeat, but I know it is a journey and like the Lt. said at swear in, we all handle this journey in different ways. Here's hoping that I can continue to stay positive in the weeks to come when the fact that he is really gone sinks in! :)  *hugs* to all of  you other Mom's out there!  We can do this!!

Your post is so positive and uplifting! Thank you. My daughter left for Boot Camp on Monday 6/17. I have not heard from her since she arrived at the airport in Chicago. Miss her so much, but so very proud of her.

I see you have joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones); you may also want to join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in June, to connect with others with loved ones who left the same day and may have PIR together.

Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages.

You may also want to check out Women in the Navy, Mom’s of Navy Daughters, and Mom's of Daughters 2.

I find that life is much easier if I live on the positive side. :). My son called last night and my robotic call was not robotic at all! He almost sounded like he was joyful and he added a few I love yous. My niece went through GL last Fall, so I kind of know what to expect. Next up, letters about how crazy it is and how he does nothing right. Then things will get better with each letter. I hope your daughter is doing well and maybe they will end up in the same unit! :)

Good attitude.

lots of love coming your way my son left on the 12th of june I got my last phone call 06/13/2013 it was exactly 52 seconds I have yet to hear from him but like many moms say no news is good news hopefully letters will start soon and maybe a phone call. Hang in there pal it seems were all in bootcamp these days...

Thank you!  You too!  We will get calls before you know it and they should be able to talk a little longer.  At this point I'm thinking no news is good news and hoping they didn't decide to pull his wisdom teeth, which was always a possibility since he still has them!  Have you gotten your box and letter yet?

hugs right back to you..   tears filled with Pride... love that

Got the box today and hoping for the form letter in the next couple of days!  One step closer to PIR...  :)
