Yes, recruits arriving a day apart can be a week apart for PIR. I am surprised that your SR has PIR the 30th though, but there were storms last week that could have pushed extra recruits in the week and caused that to happen. I would not be surprised at all to find after you get the form letter that your SR is in Ship 13 Division 312 because it is really strange for recruits arriving a day apart to be in divisions that are more than 4 divisions apart in number. Divisions 311 and 312 are in Ship 13. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones).

Remember, don't send letters before getting the form letter unless more than 2 weeks have passed without getting a form letter. See Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.

thank you so much for your help!  Didn't think i was totally losing my mind, although at this point that is a definite possibility LOL!  I have been writing since he left and know not to mail them until I get the form letter.  Hoping the box will be here tomorrow.

You are very welcome.

Hi all. My son left June 26th for boot camp. We live in WV. He just graduated high school on June 1st. I feel a kind of dazed and confused since he left last week.  Maybe I'm in shock  that he graduated and then 3 weeks later, poof, he is on his way to RTC. He is my youngest child and I never dreamed he'd join the military and leave home so young. I always figured he'd be living with me until he was out of college a few years. I'm definitely suffering empty nest syndrome, sad and proud both at the same time. It feels like he's been gone for so long. I really don't like not having contact with him. I'm pretty sure that I've gained 5 pounds the last few days from stress/anxiety junk food eating, lol. I hope after he gets the chance to call home in a couple of weeks-it'll ease my worry. Anybody else feeling similar, or is it just me? Hope you all are doing okay. Prayers for all of us. :)

Feeling the same. Not being able to call or check on her in any way shape or form is killing me!

My daughter turned 18 then graduated in May and poof was gone June 26.

Not sure how you're supposed to quit your kid cold turkey - I've kinda been addicted to mine for about 18 years!

I received my box today. I wonder how long it will be before I get the letter..hmm

10 days after arrival is the average for receiving the form letter.

Thank you Lemonelephant :)

You are very welcome.

Got the box today! Note written on his boarding pass that he loves us! Happy momma!

You are so lucky to have gotten a note!! I only got back the note I had pinned to his unopened disposable toothbrush. But I was happy to see that the moleskin and bandaids did not come back. Copies of his orders also came in the box. I do hope he was not suppose to keep them!

Some do put that copy of orders in "the box" and/or the envelope they were in. All is fine, that is an extra copy.
