Anyone else with a child/loved one leaving from Indy on the 18th?

Well, we have officially joined you in the "grumpy" group.  I think the nerves are kicking in a little more - today I got "I don't know if you realize it or not, but I'm leaving in 5 days"... I will enjoy reminding him of that one day when he has a child leaving him - I think I know the countdown clock as well as he does :)  Hopefully the parties the next two days will perk him up a bit. How are your guys doing?

Hello ladies,
Doing really good here. It's kinda funny, I'm a single mom and looking forward to having a craft room when he's gone. I'm very independent and looking forward to some trips I have planned alone.
But the last few days I feel like I'm often on the verge of tears. I joked to my brother, "I don't want him to go, but he can't stay home either!"
I'm so proud of his choice and we are having a great big party here Saturday with everyone we know.
It's just feels weird that one half of my brain feels like crying and the other half can't wait to finally live alone and do my own thing.

Any one else?
Hi traveler mom and Scott's mom
One side of me wants to hang on to him and the other side is encouraging him to get on with his adventure. We went to the DEPPER meeting tonight with recruits and parents. It was great to meet his recruiter who he has been talking to since March. My son is the only one leaving this month. His recruiter took us aside and assured us he will do fine in BC. That was a nice touch and it made me feel better (a little)
I joined navy4moms as soon as he joined in April. I have researched everything and I swear I could have taught that group of recruits tonight (haha). There were so many moms who knew NOTHING.
Big family party on Saturday and the entire group will be here. Beer and Brats for 50. Also a chocolate cake with the Navy Seal. I'll try to take a picture.
We are taking him to the recruiter on Monday afternoon, then will meet up with him at the federal building in Dallas on Tuesday morning to see him swear in. NOT going to the airport. Dang I wish I cried pretty!

Hi ladies!

How are we all doing?  I met my son at the MEPS building for swearing in but didn't go to the airport.  We thought we (my mom and I) would, but turns out there were 4 others leaving today from our town so he didn't "need" us there.  We hugged and took lots of photographs and then he got on the shuttle to the airport.

I'm worried I'm going to miss the phone call that I plan on ringer up and sleeping with the phone on the mattress next to my pillow! LOL

But otherwise I'm doing really well.  Just feels like he's away at one of his ROTC trips right now. Keeping myself busy today. :)

Well, I got an extra 2 days with mine - he's leaving Thursday now. Don't know how everyone else's experience has been with MEPS, but a doc didn't sign a paper, so he got a little delay. All is well now & he will be on his way to join yours soon. Sounds like it should still be the same PIR grouping though. Good luck to all - I know I will be just as anxious for the phone call Thursday night...
We met him at MEPS this morning. He was in good spirits. He left for Chicago and it looks like he will be about 2hrs later than expected. They did a great job with MEPS in Dallas...there were 3 groups of about 20 kids ready to swear in. After our son signed they were rushed into the travel briefing and then out to the airport. All in all, a good days
Heard from mine via text, he got into town at 4p local time. :)

8pm my local time, I just got the call! :D

My son called at 11:30pm. I bet it was an early morning today

My son called at 1:35 last night (or this morning).  I am having a really tough time. How are you all holding up?

Hey AMS,
I'm sorry to hear that. I'm doing okay, right now it feels like he's at one of the many NJROTC trips he went on in high school. Plus I have some projects planned. Do you have things to do to keep yourself busy during this time?

I have 2 other children at home and I work but I just can't get a grip yet. I know it will get better, or I hope it will. Just today is not good.
