Anyone else out there putting a son/daughter on a plane on Dec. 3rd?  I'm excited for him, but this pit in my stomach is not a good feeling... it is hard to let go...we spend our lives preparing them for this moment, but no one prepares us for it...

Hi, Vickie360. Yes, my son also flew out on the 3rd. Miss him like crazy and hoping that he's handling things okay so far. Was out of the house when his "kid in a box" arrived today, so I'm waiting for it to be re-delivered. Anxiously awaiting the form letter so that I can write him, and disseminate his address in time for him to receive (hopefully) lots of Christmas cards. It will be so strange not having him home for the holidays, but I'm so glad he was here for Thanksgiving and got to see his extended family.

I couldn't believe how emotional I was. We have be preparing for this day for 9 months. this Morning when I kissed him goodbye I cried all the way to work but he hasn't even left the state yet. We see him swear in tomorrow. Trying to keep it together until after we leave that ceremony

Well ladies, I got by "Box" off my porch just now.  It was the handwriting on the outside of the box that broke me.  I didn't even open it yet, but had a good cry.  I have been doing so well.  Staying positive at work and keeping my emotions in check.

Did you get the form letter to confirm that date?

Also, check your My Page.

I was told it is the 8th friday after they leave.  I thought graduation was Jan 30.  I hope it is Jan not Feb!

Becky, count 9 Fridays after arrival to get the most likely PIR date, but then know that it can be the week before (more likely for those arriving on a Monday or Tuesday) or the week after (more likely to happen this time of year and more likely to happen for one arriving on Wednesday, Thursday, or the wee hours of Friday). You won't knkow for sure until you get The Form Letter. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

becky, check your My Page.

My son flew out on the 4th.  Got the box today, guess the next thing is the letter.

Hope everyone is holding up well this first week.

Hi Vicki, My son leaves the same day and I have the same pit in my stomach. I thought I would handle this better but the closer it gets the more I doubt myself. I'm so proud of him I just wish it wasn't so hard to let go.
