Hi, y'all! I'm new here, up early to get ready to take our son back to his college town where he signed up for Navy. He's got three years of college under his belt, but decided he wants to get out and actually work in the "real world" and make some $$ to pay off his loans, then finish a degree with Uncle Sam's help!  So, here we go.  It's a long way from our Southern home to Great Lakes, MI, but I am excited he is taking this step, while a little concerned that he will be able to be all"SIR, YES SIR!" since he loves to argue and debate :). Looking forward to meeting other moms!

That is amazing! Glad to hear from you! I'm not from Fulton originally but have lived here since 1984.
I got my son's address on Friday from his recruiter! He is in Div. 901, Ship 02. Anyone else have a child in that division? I just wrote my first of many letters to him! I can't wait to see his first letter to home! It will probably be in text format!
Can't wait to get that address! How did you get it from the recruiter--did they email you, or did you contact them yourself? If I don't get the form letter tomorrow, I will definitely be contacting my son's recruiter to see what he can find out.
My son is in this Ship and Division. His name is Tyler. I just sent off my first letter to him today. His brother, who is 4 years old, also wrote to him. He typed it in 6 point font with no periods or commas just to mess with him.
i called my son's recruiter on Friday and he waid he wouldn't have his ship and division and address until late next week. : ( Hope everyone else get's it much quicker than that
Our recruiter emailed the address to us. He came to the induction ceremony & told us that he would have the address by Friday, which he did! I hope you get your child's address soon too! I have already mailed the first letter & pictures! Good luck!
I had to laugh when I read your post because I agree, if I don't get my sons address soon he's going to have a book to read.
Hi my son left on 9/21 I got his address on 9/23 from his recruiter.
My son left on 9/15/2010, his graduation is November 12th. Today is September 28th and I have not gotten a call or a letter yet. It is very hard not being able to talk to them. Good luck
I just got my box with my son clothes today. He left last Tuesday so the mail is reasonably quick. I just watched the bootcamp video on facebook. Now I can envision where my son is & how he is doing. It looks so neat & nice. I'm happy for my boy!
I'm glad you got your box - I'm still waiting but I hope by tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest I'll have it. I'm really hoping to get his address soon with his ship and division so I can confirm his PIR date. I'm a planner and I really want to get the reservations (with insurance just in case) out of the way.
YAHOOOOOO! Went to get the mail and was so disappointed not to find the form letter, then noticed it hiding between two bigger envelopes! Gotta get that first letter out now! He's in ship 11, div.370, and it says the PIR is 11/12, but many of you have said yours was 11/19. His little blurb at the bottom said he's been blind for two days b/c they took his contacts and he has not received the boot camp glasses. Hope he's not been griping too much about that! Jeffsmom, the youtube bootcamp videos helped me a lot, too. Now to plan the trip to Chicago, but I'm scared to buy tickets too soon in case there is a snag.
