For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I just got my letter today! Jeff graduates on his 21st birthday, November 19th! He says bootcamp is cake! Just follow orders! Lucky for him, he is in great physical shape & older. I can't imagine the folding clothes part though & being neat! It will be good for him!

HI, my Son had three years of Denistry School under his belt and out of nowhere he comes to me and say's, Hey mom how you feel about me going to the Navy???? I was like you have to be Joking!!!! He left on Sept 21, 2010 as well, I got a letter from his Captain on Saturday and his group Graduate on November 12 so I am excited about that and I can't hardly wait to see him, Already it seems like forever and a lifetime since I last seem him or tallk to him!!!!

Byrdy, I bet that was a shock! What job will he have in the navy? And Vikki's daughter is a bit older, too, so sounds like there are a lot who are not just out of high school. Byrdy, what ship and division is your son in? Mine's is ship 11, div. 370.

Hi, This is my first time also on this website. My son left Sept.13th and I like you and I am sure every parent had happiness and misgivings rolled into one emotional ball that day. He called us that evening and still was not finished being processed. It is now 3 weeks later and I am carrying my cell phone in my pocket, room to room, hoping I receive a call from him today. I write him at least every other day. I am sure he will think I am crazy and I hope he does not get "ribbed" by all the letters, but I figure it's all about me and not him!!! I miss him more than words can express. When I received his box with the things he wore that day when we dropped him off, it sent shivers down my spine. I told my husband I could not even imagine if something ever happened to him and I had even a more profound sense of pride for all of our soldiers and military and what other parents have had to endure.
I was happy to see your email. I am a "newbee" and I am not on facebook. It's nice to have a place to go to learn the ropes. I still feel so ignorant about how things really work. I so enjoy this place to go to express feelings and meet other members of our "new family".

Hi Karen! I miss my son too! I am not looking for phone calls, only letters from my son. I think you will be disappointed waiting for a phone call. It is so hard not to be able to text, call, or email. I have never been so cut off from my son. I think they are too busy for much time to think. I think they will be fine! Watch the video on the bootcamp. It settled my mind considerably!

My son left on the 21st also. I have already been through "the box" and "the Letter" and his first phone call. He is married so his wife really got the first two items but she was away from her phone when the call came so Mom got to talk when he called. He was emotional and that scares me. He is a strong man but said it all caught up to him. Is that normal?? While he was talking, I heard the instructor yell, LETS GO NOW... He said: "gotta go" and hung up. Does any Mom make it through this?

Yes that phone call was scripted and someone was standing over them, that is normal do not be upset by that and always remember "No News is Good News" as long as you DON"T hear from him, He's good it's tough it's very very emotional tough but as time goes by it gets better just make sure you write letters and lots of them, it's their lifeline they live for mail, Good luck to you next phonecall comes at 3 weeks

Thanks for the reminder that "no news is good news". Have been reading on some other forums of sailors getting to make calls in the last couple of days b/c their division was working well together. Then my imagination runs away: oh, is my boy's division screwing up? Why haven't I gotten a call? etc. etc. He did say we'd hear from him in about 3 weeks but I so want a letter! But I keep sending the mundane family news and keeping him caught up on the football scores.

My son left then too, but the no news is good news - well we were just informed on Friday, oct 1, that he'll be returning because he has 30% hearing loss in one ear and 20% in the other. Was so proud, now deflated and looking forward to his return next week - it takes just as long to process them out and it does in. Now we're going for another option . . . ?
