While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Leaving for Boot Camp December 8th
My son is leaving for boot camp on December 8th. I understand from reading all the information on this site that there is one week of processing and then 8 weeks of boot camp, culminating in PIR.
I know nothing is written in stone but I just wondered if those of you with more experience could tell me if his time at GL will be extended to 10 or 11 weeks since the Christmas/New Year holiday falls smack dab in the middle of his start date?
We potentially have to travel in February but attending his PIR is Priority One so I was just trying to ballpark the likelihood that PIR would go into the 3rd or 4th week in February.
I know everything is a guess until the Navy communicates but I appreciate any and all advisement from those of you with more experience.

My son is also leaving around that time. They told him the 10th but I figured the 8th or 9th.
I'm figuring PIR to be 3rd to 4th week in February. My first son was about 10 weeks also.
Did you look at what he is allowed to bring and keep once he gets there?

Congrats to all of you who will a son or daughter going to basic training soon. My son is in A school, just graduated a few weeks ago. It's hard in the beginning, but knowing they will have a great future, that helped pass the time a bit. You'll love when the first letter comes, or the first phone call! Graduation day is awesome! Anything they bring with them will be shipped back home immediately. Their paychecks will be erratic for 2-3 months, paying for uniforms, personal items, etc. Hope this helps you.

My daughter also arrived at boot camp on the 8th. Her recruiter told me that I will receive an email from him within a couple of days. (Still haven't received anything yet) I think our children wont be delayed due to Christmas as they will be processed prior. I found a post that I read somewhere on this sight about boot camp in December. There is a forum for december recruits. Try to find it. Hopefully we will be seeing our sailors first week of February! Hopefully the winter will stay mild and snow wont delay us flying there! If not I will drive the 14 hrs to get to her!!!

Hi there my son also shipped out 12/8 to boot camp, I received the box on Friday.... Trying to patiently wait for the letter! Let me know if you get any info on PIR before I do as out kids left on the same day! God bless and keep strong!
