Hi Ladies...
My son left on Aug. 24th. I am doing ok....I try to remind myself:
He's not in jail, He's not a drug dealer, and I haven't lost him for ever (I have a friend who lost her son in a drowning accident) This is how I keep things in perspective. Yes, I wish I could talk to him every day but I can in 8 weeks!! I will take 8 weeks compared to never being able to see or talk to him again. This may sound harsh but I have to tell myself this so it doesn't seem so bad.
That's what works for me. I also tell myself....he is going to visit a lot of places I will never get to see. He will probably meet his wife along the way.....he will have a Job and not be unemployed. There are so many good things that will come out of this for our children......they will be ok and so will we...we just need to stick together.....oh yeah...this site helps me sooooo very much. We can all relate to each other.
Hang in there!!! We can do this together!!!
Oh...I wanted to let you know your sons can keep a wallet.
I put some cash in there $15, calling card, family pics, band aides (that was a suggestion I read on here) inspirational quotes and who we wanted to invite to graduation. 3 or 4 names.
Just wanted to let you know so if you wanted to get that ready for them you could.
My son left for BC on 9/16. I stayed strong until that last phone call came in at 1:30 am saying that he was sending "the box". It was then that I realized my husband and I had raised a good son and he was taking the next step albeit surrounded by a whole new family. It's just hard for this mom not to have her "baby" around.
