just checked...the Ramada Inn has had a bedbug report according to Bedbug Registry. (I always check this) Courtyard by Marriot Chicago has a lot of reviews, is reasonably priced ($109), and has reviews from Naval families. It looks good.

Residence Inn looks good too, and it has a kitchen and breakfast in the AM.
Well, now I found the Springhill Marriot and with the AAA card it is only $80 and it is rated the highest... we can discuss it further. but really, nothing beats free. :-)
Betsy,
I know. The $80 is for Dec. 16-19th, but that is booking NOW. I am tempted to call tomorrow and see what they say about reserving the dates and moving them. I'm sure they've heard THAT question before. I'll post it here. The cheapest price I was able to find was actually through the Marriott site, so I can call them and ask. This was for a suite room with two Queen beds, and it has breakfast too, although we are gonna want to get out really early, possibly before they start serving. I am going to have my mom with me and she is 84, and she likes to have breakfast.

I teach at a year-round school and am on vacation for the next three weeks, so I have more time to check this stuff out than I normally would. :-)
Nancy
Betsy,

Great idea!!! Our kids will love to have a picture with all of us cool Mom's in pink scarves:) When are you leaving MD and heading back to NM?

Susan
If you go to bootcampgraduations.com there is a link to hotels near great lakes. The courtyard has some really good prices..
Elizabeth,

Drew is doing the same thing. I know so much more than he does. He is driving me nuts. I told him that he has had 5 months and is now down to 2 weeks, it's time to take this seriously! I told my husband today that I'm glad that in 13 days the Navy will take over and have to be the ones who tell him what to do! LOL Susan
Betsy

I think I know what your talking about where he says lay under your coffee table and try and read a book, if its the same thing it is hilarious.

Elizabeth
Taylor is in that power studying group......good grief
Betsy-OK I really WAS laughing out loud as I read your comment about the three boys!!!
I wanted to hit the like button for this :) - couldnt agree with you more.
As for the weather - I live on Long Island, NY and it gets cold - just dress in layers.. Turtle neck, Sweaters, Winter Coat (wool if possible) Hats, Gloves and our scarves, double your socks and wear boots and we should be OK
You guys are freaking me out about the weather in December, I am a FL girl, do you think it will snow in December?
LOL Elizabeth, sorry that made me laugh about snowing in December. My Drew is a FL boy, has only been here in NC for the last 5 years and he is saying the same thing. We keep trying to prepare him for the cold but he doesn't think it's going to be that bad. I personally think it's going to be colder than us Southern girls have ever imagined and I do think there is a good possibility of snow. Maybe we can build a snowman and put a pink scarf on it :) Susan
