For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Ok all,
JUST got off the phone with the elusive recruiter!! He told me a ton! Where to go for Hotel and that I could basically spend the day with Ian on Tuesday and where to go on Wednesday. He said going to the airport was no problelm and most parents followed the bus from MEPS to the airport.
He also told me that Ian really wouldn't need money in BC (sending some anyway cuz him being penniless really bothers me on some level), that with two families we would probably want two packages of pictures, that Ian would have plenty of money to order the pictures (even though I WILL pay him back for my package), he told me that Ian would PROBABLY be graduating on 11/17!!!!! and that he will NOT come home for Christmas as he is going to school in Chicago before going to Groton.
Most importantly he told me not to wait for the letter (which is going to his dad and I was a little worried about getting the info from him) but that I could call on FRIDAY (THREE days) and he would probably have Ian's address and graduation date for sure!! That means you guys can all do that too. I didn't realize we could find out so soon!!
Also that Ian would get 30 shots...knew it was a ton...but YUCK!!!
Do we have a time for Monday night...figuring in time zones??

Well he did say that he would probably be off around the beginning of January, and I am off of school then so I could spend time with him...make up for the holidays. So sad, but some compensation.

I am so glad you finally heard from the recruiter. Sorry about Christmas but maybe after, right? 30 shots? That is insane. I will not tell my son about that. He has enough to think about. That is good news regarding finding out our childrens div and PIR date so soon. Hugs, Kathy

Hi Kathy, yes, probably right after Christmas. That will work for me in many ways! Yeah, I don't think that Ian knows about the 30 shots either, although he does know a lot that I don't give him credit for.

Susan, I know. And I feel like I know so much and I have been telling my husband everything that I know, and I know I am trying to make this transition as painless as possible for IAN, and he says, "Why don't you just go to BC for him?"
Kind of kidding, but then it made me wonder if I AM trying to do too much for Ian.
Do we have to send a shot record? -

Susan, I see now. Yes, that would be a good idea but my son is 25 and I don't think I could even find his records now if I tried. I do hope it keeps your son from having so many shots though. Kathy

I didn't have it either but the high school he went to did. But he just graduated in 09, so it's understandable. I will let you know when he writes if it saved him some shots. Susan

I read somewhere that they get the shots regardless. But it's worth a try!

Susan, what shot record? Do they need to take it to BC?
Susan and Nancy, I don't think men think like we do. That is such a typical thing for a father to say. I understand exactly what you mean regarding making his transition as painless as possible. That is why a kept mentioning the memorization he needed to do. I do think though that he did learn it but just didn't want to tell me because I did ask him about it too much. Just two days ago he said ask me a sentry order number, any of them. I did and he knew it. Bless his heart. Kathy -
