Hi everyone,
I am sorry i haven't been on here much, soooo busy. I did have time to read up a little and WOW what proud mothers we are. We have had a great weekend.
Sunday we went to church and our minister dedicated the sermon to My TJ. Our kids grew up together and so he was able to have a personal friendship with him over the years watching him grow up. He spoke of TJ's dedication to our family as the oldest of our five children. He mentioned his character and the decisions that he has made specifically the Navy to make a future for himself. Then at the end of the service he asked him to come up front with his family and as we made our way up he turned and said you are all my family, to the congregation. So you can imagine that there wasn't a dry eye!!! As I stood there with tears streaming down my face I felt a sense of calmness knowing my boy will be ok!! He is sooo loved, by so many!!
Sunday afternoon we had a party which included about 65 people, lots of food and drinks. We had a great time and my husband gathered everyone for a "farewell" speach that didn't leave a dry eye. Then I gave all of the kids and a few adults a can of shaving cream to attack him with which lightened the mood alot, I will post pics soon. So despite the emotions it was a great day!!
Tonight we will have a family dinner and have birthday cake for my hubby and have a few more laughs before Tues morning when I drive him to the recruiters office and cry all of the way home.
I am so thankful for this site and all of the support it brings. Thanks for reading. Good luck to you and yours, and GOOOO NAVY!!
Hugs,
Stacey
Stacey,

Oh my, that is a wonderful tribute to TJ and you as his mom. I can imagine how much pride you felt for him. ((hugs))

Enjoy your family time together tonight. It will be so important for you and him to have such special memories right before he goes.

Good luck to you and TJ. I have been so grateful to get to know each and other sailor and their moms on here.

Betsy

Betsy
hi my son left today for bc!
Wow, Betsy, what a nice day you have had. I wonder if Brandon's flight from San Antonio connects in Dallas. Tell Adam to check for a guy in a Blue shirt jacket. I know what you mean about dropping them off and then when you saw him today he was a young man. When I talked to Brandon this morning he already sounded different on the phone. I am kind of sad today but waiting impatiently for the phone call tonight. The phone is glued to my hand all day. I will be back about 6 or 7 tonight. Hugs. Kathy
Kathy and Betsy,
You both sound SO relieved. I can tell you have already shifted into the next phase. Are you going to start a group to continue this over in the BC group? If you do, please post name here. I know we discussed Basket Case (or something like that) and I would like to keep track of you and your kids in the future even if we do go into different divisions/PIR dates/etc....Betsy-Thanks so much for the prayers for our recruits!! I have been saying little prayers all day today for the kids heading out today, and will continue for the next couple of days.

Ian goes to the hotel tomorrow and then MEPS on Wednesday. I will be looking a change in him. Although I must say there has been tremendous growth in his maturity and outlook over the past few months. I am looking forward to meeting him at PIR!!

I will check back in this evening at 6...
Nancy
Hi Nancy, We will have a new PIR group whenever we find out the date, it will just be called PIR 12-17-10, or whatever the date is. There we can put up a countdown clock and a chat room. We will put the ship and division number in our name like the other gals have done whose children are now at bootcamp. That is where we can all hang out. Sometimes people make certain division discussions but they usually don't have alot of people in them plus I want to talk to all of you for the next 8 or 9 weeks. You know, I think I am relieved he has finally gone though I do miss him and I can't wait to talk to him again, even for a minute. Hopefully, with God Willing we will make a group called "The Basket Club" after boot camp. I will be praying for you, Ian, and your family and it is pretty hectic and scary before they leave but it does get better because we are thinking of his future now and he is on his way. Hugs, Kathy
Kathy, I think I am getting off easy. Reading all of the posts the excitement is just bubbling through!! All of the facing the unknown is over, and everyone is off to the next adventure. It makes it easier for me to send Ian off after seeing all your kids adjust so well.

My favorite comment was whoever it was (sorry, read so much that I have lost track) that was eating when no other moms could...I could totally relate to that. I am a stress eater too. I didn't sleep last night for most of the night. I checked with Ian, he is sleeping just fine! LOL

Norm thinks BC won't start until Monday. If that is the case, then the kids will wait for everyone to arrive through the week. I just checked, if they do that, it is exactly 7 weeks to the 17th. So some of the early arrivals (your kids) MAY be put with forming divisions... I guess we won't know until Wednesday at the earliest (you should be able to call recruiters after noon) what the PIR is. Can't wait!!
Nancy
Ha ha Nancy, that was me eating :))))) Also, for dinner I had pizza and a Krispy Kreme donut! Susan
I'm looking forward to being able to keep up with dates...what a crazy time to try to make travel arrangements!
I know, it's all so up in the air!!
Wendi,

Wow, this is really weird. It's almost like we had a script and Adam and Heidi followed it to a tee. What would they do without their moms? lol

I bet you can't wait for that call. I felt so much better after I heard his voice this afternoon and I know you will too.

Let us know when she lands. I want to know that all of our kids arrived safely.

Betsy
Wendi, I am waiting too for Brandon to call me that he arrived. I unfortunately don't know when the plane left. It sounds like we all had the same feelings yesterday and the same today. Empty inside, missing them, but happy they are on their way. Hugs, Kathy
