That's great. I'm on lunch now got a text from jen. she is also at the airport now, made it through meps woohoo! Her firstnflight at 4:00 was cancelled, now she is scheduled to go at almost 8:00. Due to arrive in Chicago at 10:00. it's going to be a late one lol.
Wow that is late!! Tell her to get some sleep between now and when she lands. From what we all have heard they are kept awake that entire first night and next day so she won't be able to sleep until tomorrow night. Susan
Donna,

YAY for getting through MEPS. I bet you are so relieved.

Woah, poor J. I hope she is able to sleep a bit on the plane.

((hugs)) to you.

Betsy
Yay!!!! Donna, She is going to Great Lakes. Until my son actually called me I was worried about Meps too because you just don't know what can happen. You must be so proud. Hugs. Kathy
Hi...its been a super hard day for me, we dropped Taylor off last night at the hotel, had dinner, hung out and left, I cried the whole way home and what felt like the entire night, got up this morning (um still crying) went to MEPS for the swearing in (I held myself together) it was great there were a ton of recruits I was so proud of everyone of them...we were able to stay for a couple of hours until the bus came, we said our goodbyes and out the back door he went....of course I'm the ONLY mom haulin' butt to where the bus is parked, my husband was afraid I would throw myself in front of the bus, I was close but I figured the bus would have won. With all that being said I can barely keep myself together I'm a crying fool, it comes and goes and then it comes again.....I feel so heartbroken right now I can't stand it, I think Taylor was very nervous and scared (which didn't help me) I told him hang in there do what you are expected to do and you will be out of BC before you know it and then it will be much easier. I am trying to be so brave for him and its hard...my younger son is heartbroken so we are really trying to lean on each other right now and laugh about all the things Taylor will be going through, I mentioned to Mike (my younger son) that this will be an accelarated BC, he said he could imagine the instructor telling Taylor drop and give me 50 but make it fast we are on an accelarated program, I thought that was hysterical. I'll get through all of this right? It's going to be ok? Just may take a few days....if anyone had similar heartbroken feelings please let me know I'm not crazy and that I am normal.
Elizabeth
Awwwww Elizabeth - I'm right there with you! Praying for safe travels to GL for everyone of our kids today! I am in Michigan and the winds today are what Chicago had yesterday and they are swift! The good news is, the rains and tornados have moved on through - the sun is shining......weather should get better and better as the day goes on. Its also relatively warm for those coming in from southern states. Your sense of humor is wonderful! Sounds like Mike has learned from the best! Hang in there!
Lori....thank you, I'm really a basket case right now, I think Taylor is nervous as heck and I think he was 2nd guessing his decision, I told him don't ever doubt yourself you are doing a great thing. Mike has been keeping tabs on Taylors travel path today asking how he is doing, I said Mike he sounds nervous, he said mom once he gets there he's not going to have time to think about being nervous he'll be so busy....keep in mind Mike is 13, but boy does he ever have words of wisdom and he hits everything right on.
When is your son estimated to get to GL?
Elizabeth - AU as I'll call him (are we really not able to use even their first names now??) arrived at GL last night. We received our last call at 5:30 EST so there is was 4:30 EST. I expect he has been up since yesterday at 4:00 A - hoping they let them sleep for a few hours last night. If not I'm sure he is ready to hit the rack! AU traveled by Van to GL because he was coming from Michigan. It took him about 5.5 hours and that was with a stop for lunch. I awakened very early this morning thinking about him; wondering what he was doing. When I got home tonight my Honor, Courage and Commitment book arrived so I'm going to snuggle up under a blanket and read - I'm really exhausted still from yesterdays emotions and my poor sleep habits the last few nights. Can't wait to follow along with AU in the chapters of the book. Lori
Lori....Honor, Courage and Commitment, is an awesome book I started reading it about a week ago, I gave my son a couple of heads up on things to come....he was amazed and of course said mom how do you know all this stuff like I am the guru of all things, I should have told him I called up to GL and had a phone conference with the commander that would have freaked him out....I told him that I was probably more prepared for BC than he is...haha...:o)

P.S. - probably by the time my son gets there your son will be taking a nap :o)
Betsy - Surely they let them sleep last night, don't you think?? Susan
Hi Susan, I read and the recruiter told us they keep them up for 48 hours when they get there. Something about handling the stress and they will all have the same sleep pattern. I do know my son will be sleeping tonight. Bless his heart and all of our kids hearts. Kathy
Betsy - I sure hope he has had some rest by now too!

Betsy and Elizabeth:

I just started HCC and really think of the 3 books this one is going to be the most meaningful to me. I just wrote Adam Letter 1 - 1 full page about today and 1 page with some history on Groton CT where his A school is. Elizabeth - you crack me up; you are really blessed with a wonderful sense of humor.

I'm off to go visit an Aunt who is in town visiting my mom. Have a good night and happy reading!

Lori
