I JUST got my text. Said he got a little sleep! Now it all starts!
I just got home from work and I see some new names on some old pictures. lol. I will be back as soon as I read the ton of posts and catch up. Hugs to all that got their calls and are still waiting for 'The Call'.
Just got back from dropping my son off at his hotel. I tried to keep everything very light and fun...could hardly swallow, though, when I watched him walk through the doors before we left. Then the long drive home. I will be up and heading out at 6:30 tomorrow to get there in time for his swearing-in. I am hoping they will allow me to stay with him until his flight leaves.
I think my younger son is taking it kinda rough...so I am not staying on here long...I want to go spend time with him. Thank you ladies for all of your support! Will continue to pray for all of my new Navy families now!
Penny
Penny...hang in their my younger son took it harder than I thought he would I know the feeling of trying to keep your self strong and help them through as well, we had a cry fest together and then started talking about the funny times together and then sort of poking fun at his brother and all the crazy things that will happen in bootcamp (of course we will never tell his brother that part) but it really helped us break the stress a little.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
Elizabeth
Penny-went to the airport with my son today. All we had to do was go to the ticketing agent and tell him my son was leaving for BC. They printed up special tickets for us. Then we had to do through the security line, which we really hadn't thought about...my husband had to throw away his pocket knife (little, cheap, replaceable). You also have to go through a metal detector at MEPS... easier than the airport though. Good luck tomorrow!!
Nancy
Hello Ladies, I have been reading through the posts...managed to change my name AND download some kind of a picture...better than nothing! Busy with I the last two days. Went to see him last night at the hotel. Two hours of driving to see him for an hour LOL. One of his depper friends was his roommate and that worked out nicely. I didn't want to have dinner as he was 5 pounds over yesterday AM. Just drank water, when we dropped him off he was going to work out in the hotel gym.

Went to MEPS this AM... Found out he made weight with a pound to spare!! (boy oh boy, they'll take care of that at BC) Only two boys had family (kinda sad about that), although the swearing in room was so tiny not many more would have fit. Lots of little groups being processed, ours was the last to leave. Followed to the airport, got special tickets, and hung out until just about boarding. We went to lunch, had older son with us, and got a text saying plane was delayed for almost 2 hours and if it were delayed past 4, they would need to spend another night. Fortunately they took off at 3:15, BUT that means they will get into Chicago around 11:00 PM...at late night. But if they aren't going to sleep anyway, this way they will be busy. Tough day, emotional, but I am so proud of him. Beginning to identify with the next stages of exhaustion (mine), and worry!! Nothing to do but pray. My mom called wanting to know how it went, but I just can't call her, ROAC just thinking about trying to have to talk to her about it...
Have a great evening,
Nancy
Nancy / Penny: Thinking of you both! We have all been a different points in the process at different times.

Thanks Nancy for sharing your experience with us. I'm so glad he made weight - wow, what a determined young man! Good for him!! You did so well - the exhaustion that hits once they are on their way iss so surprising to me but I guess should have expected. Rest up and yes, pray and think positive. You will be glad to hear his voice when he calls and know he is safely there.

Penny: Hang in there - you will be so proud tomorrow at MEPS; we are all thinking of you!
I understand...I want my family to know everything is going ok...but just don't want to talk right now!
Nancy, I am glad he got off safely today and Yay on making the weight. My son had to worry about that too. Thank you for sharing your day. It is an emotional day but we are all so proud of them when they leave after working so hard for many months. Hugs, Kathy
Nancy, My Aunt called me after D left on Monday and I was doing pretty well until I talked to her. I sobbed as bad as I did when he was leaving. My mom died 11 years ago and this is one of her sisters that stepped into the grandmother role for my kids. However, when we have moments like this I think about how I wish I could talk to my mom instead. That probably made the crying worse. RAOC Susan
Thanks for that information. I will see if they will do that for me too. Yeah, I figured I would have to make sure to clean out my purse tonight!
Penny, Let us know how everything goes tomorrow. I will be thinking of you and sending prayers. Hugs. Kathy
