I thought it would be nice to start a discussion for our children leaving the week of October 25th 2010.  Welcome everyone.  Kathy

Nancy,

My A did say that the recruiters found him on Facebook and added him as a friend a while back, so anything is possible. One of the recruiters even commented on a hat he was wearing in one of his pictures. Thank goodness, it was a nice comment. A was wearing a hat from my daughter's bf's ship and they asked where he got it. He told them.

So, big brother is always watching.

Betsy
Donna...thank you for the info on the "official call" you filled in the blanks for me, my call went like this last night at 11:00...."I'm here, sending stuff home, 3 weeks, love you gotta go" I just yelled into the phone "I Love You". So now I know the box will will come home in a week (that is the sending stuff home) he will call in 3 weeks (that is the 3 week part, I thought maybe he was trying to tell me it felt like he had either been awake for 3 weeks or he's been at BC for 3 weeks) and the love you, gotta go, was pretty clear. The call came from his cell phone thought I would possibly get another call but to be honest I am glad I didn't, my heart, mind and soul needs to start the healing process so when the next phase comes I am strong and prepared.
Elizabeth

To all the mom's and families starting your journey today my thoughts and prayers are with you for courage, strength and a peaceful day....hang tough we are now military mama's :o)
Elizabeth,

I'm so excited for you. I know how great it is to hear his voice, even if only for a short time.
A called me from his cell, as well. It was even exciting to me, to hear his ring tone. :)

We have all been strong together. ((hugs))

Betsy
Elizabeth, I am so glad you got your call. It does sound like they are reading from a card but at the end, because I knew it would have to be fast, I yelled "I miss you and I love you" and he said in his normal beautiful voice "I love you too mom". RAOC. Yes, now we need to be strong for them and it will probably make us strong too. Hugs. K
My husband just called and the box is here. He is not going to open it until I get home...wow, this is too real... Susan
Thanks, me too. I don't get off work for another few hours so I will let you know how it goes. Susan
Betsy, I am nervous too. Will this feeling ever end. lol. My husband is on his way to the recruiting office to try to get B's ship and div.. If our recruiter is not there he may not succeed. Hugs. K
lol, Betsy, you probably responded to my other post that I did about Susan's daughters injuries. lol. I can't believe it is 3 pages back. Hugs. K
If Richard calls me from there I may see if he can also give us your sons info Betsy. They have to look online anyway. I really don't see a problem with that. I will call him. Would you rather I didn't though? All of a sudden I feel so pushy. Let me know what you want but know they may not do it anyway. Hugs. K
YAY!!! I really hope you two find out today. The waiting is killing me...oh that sounds insensitive. Let's try again...I know the wait must be killing you ;) Susan
Oh, my goodness, Susan, this is really happening. Let us know how you are doing when you get home. By the way I just put a reply about 3 pages back regarding your daughters injuries. I didn't realize it. Hugs. K
Kathy - LOL. She is fine, she is my "head strong, no one is going to tell me what to do" kind of girl :) I DO NOT see the militray in her future, LOL She would give the RDC's a run for their money! Susan
