I thought it would be nice to start a discussion for our children leaving the week of October 25th 2010.  Welcome everyone.  Kathy

I love San Antonio! I'm glad the schedule shift works for Mom. Enjoy - can't wait to hear about the dinner. Our children are shipping out but life continues all around us during such a pivotal moment doesn't it. I hope the move for you middle son goes well. Someone told me once "you'll never have enough time." That is so true - if we all could have just one more day, we would take it.
Hi Ladies, My son leaves for BC on the 27th, which by the way is my husbands birthday :(. He is the oldest of 5 in our household, and I am worried about not only dealing with my own fears and emotions but my other childrens emotions as well. My son and I worked together these past few months and his last day was yesterday. All of our co-workers applauded him before he left and I tell you I couldn't have been prouder seeing the smile on his face. I think I got a little taste of what Graduation is going to feel like and I know I will be a crying mess, lol. It is nice to know that I will not be alone there. We are planning a going away party for the 23rd and I tell you it is hard planning something like this, I got teary eyed just ordering the cake. I am figuring I will have a few boxes of tissues that day. I never knew how hard it was going to be saying goodbye to this young man whom it seemed was just a little boy yesterday. I am sooo proud of his decision to join the Navy and only look forward to seeing what kind of a man he will become because of it. Thanks for reading and much luck to you and yours. Go Navy!!
Stacey
Hi Stacey! Nice to meet you - WOW! Five children; I'm sure you are so proud of your oldest. I expect you will be able to handle yours and your childrens emotions. A women who can raise 5 can do ANYTHING. I'm sure it will be difficult, especially those first days. I choked when I ordered Adam's cake; couldn't speak when I made my hotel reservations for MEPS swearing in........RAOC at its best. I just posted a few pictures of my son's Anchor's Away party. Enjoy your special celebration! Welcome and GO NAVY! Lori
Hi Lori, Nice to meet you too. I appreciate the lifting words of encouragement. I have enjoyed reading this disscussion and find it very informative. Joining this site was the best thing I could have done.
Stacey
Hi Betsy, we have a bit in common with 5 children under our belts. Thanks for your kind words and good luck to you and your son.
Stacey
TJ'smom....my son Taylor, is also leaving on the 27th MEPS/Tampa, I see you are in FL, is he leaving from Tampa?
Elizabeth
Betsy, I will say prayers for Adam's safety tomorrow. I have the same fears of small planes. I hope he has a wonderful time though. That was nice of his ex girlfriends father. Kathy
Welcome, Stacey, I am glad you joined us. We are here to support each other and can always use another shoulder to cry on and feel free to do the same.
Lori, Your dinner is making me hungry. Your party sounds wonderful and I am glad you were too busy to cry. Where did you get the cake. Yummy. I look forward to seeing your pictures.
Betsy, one week, how can this be? You were one of the first here on this discussion and it seems like yesterday. Adam sounds just wonderful. Only 18 and he sounds so strong and responsible. What he said made me cry, again.
Susan, Nice to see you here. This week I am going to try to shake off my worries and just enjoy my son while he is here. I am also going to take a million pictures of him. I asked him last night if I could take a picture of him running. He said no. lol. It may be from behind but I am getting one.

We will soon have a PIR date and I went to the PIR 12-3-10 (left for BC 1st week of OCT) group to see what it looked like. Wow, go see it. They have a countdown clock which is nice but they also have a chat room. Yes, a chat room. I have never seen this on another PIR site before. The most computer literate person here needs to set up our PIR group. Any volunteers? Kathy
here is the link to the 12/3 PIR group http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir12310 soon ya'll will have your own PIR group!!!
Kathy,
I tried to get it for us, cuz I thought WE could use it! but I couldn't get it to paste here. We do need to have a PIR group. Maybe if we are not in the same PIR, we could create our own group anyway and keep ourselves updated as to our kids progress. :-)
Nancy
Nancy, When I first started this discussion I tried to get a countdown clock but decided finally that it needs to be done by the person making a group. When we find out for sure when the PIR will be we can put it on there. Here's crossing my fingers that we are all in the same PIR if not division. Kathy
Hi Kathy, thanks so much for making me feel welcome. It is good to know I am not alone in this rollercoaster.
Stacey
