The tears are starting to flow. S was to leave in December but was moved to October 26. Had a family get together yesterday, Sunday. He seems ready and has done well on all the tests and PT every morning. I keep telling myself this is for the best....
Hi Phoebe - My Son Stephen leaves on 10/26 as well, He will be coming in from NY, we are meeting with his recuiter tomorrow, so hopefully I get some answers .
My son is an old goat at 26 so I have not attended any meetings with the recruiter. He has to do this on his own. Denver is our home town and Sean will be heading north for BC. He has had a wonderful recruiter and at this point I am worrying for no reason. My husband just shakes his head when I get stressed.
I think he's leaving from Denver. He has to meet the recruiter and stay over night at a motel with the others and head out the next day for the frozen north.
Sean hasn't told me much so I'm real clueless. If he wants me around that night he will say something...
Oh Phoebe, what a shock that must be for you. If there is anything we can help you with please let us know. Welcome to our discussion. My son leaves the 25th and I was always afraid he would be called in earlier but to tell you the truth the time has gone so fast the last few months I am still not ready for him to leave. You have joined a great group though and we are here for you if you have any questions are just want to vent. We cry so often here one of us even named it, RAOC, random act of crying. Try to stay strong and we will all be here to help you. Kathy
Thank you all for the support. This past month has flown by. My husband has been a big help and with the stories from his days in the Army in 68 to 71 we have tried to do a lot of laughing. Love the RAOC thing. Sending hugs to you all...
Phoebe-my son Ian will be going on the 27th. At one point I thought it would be nice to not have to wait, but realize now what a HUGE adjustment that would have been. We will be here for you, it's a fabulous group of ladies here. Read through the posts regarding our matching pink scarves (so we can find each other) and our reservations for PIR. Let us know if you have any questions.

Ladies-I just got notification that my pictures were approved so you can go to my page and see Ian, and me too (since I still haven't figured out the picture thing).
Have a great afternoon,
Nancy
Yay Nancy,

I'll go look at them now.

Matching Pink Scarves....????
Phoebe-We are all getting the same pink scarf and wearing it to PIR (see we are committed to being at the same PIR, hopefully the Navy accommodates us LOL). I will go find the link and put it here if you would like to join us. We are also staying at the Residence Inn in Waukegan. So, even if the kids aren't all in the same PIR we may pass each other in the hallways. :-)

Hello to all my Navy Mom's....I have been on the down low lately....we had Taylor's party this past Saturday,it was really nice and Taylor had a really good time. Many moments of RAOC snuck up on me, but I had a great group of friends at the party to pick me up as soon as they saw I was starting to crumble. Taylor got his Navy cut at his party, it turned out to be a mohawk he said he's never had a mohawk and wanted to see how it would look and believe it or not it looks great on him, I even got to help shave his head, it brought back all those "bald baby" memories....

I agree about the sign that says, "my child is doing fine, but I'm a wreck" I have a really hard times answering questions about Taylor leaving and where he's going and on and on and on.

I would love if some how we could put a list together with the ship out dates for all our children....

Ok gotta run.....HUGS to everyone :o)
Elizabeth
