Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Left today!
My son just left today from St. Louis. WOW! I had most of my meltdown yesterday but when I looked over at his brother, who is SOOO stoic and rarely shows a great deal of emotion, breaking down it really broke my heart. So proud of this choice he's made and his job will be so great! But I am definitely on a roller coaster this afternoon. Any moms out there whose son or daughter left today with mine? I know 8 weeks will go really fast, but it's the not talking and not knowing that may do me in!

My son left monday and arrived in chicago on tuesday, got the call last night. Im praying everything was ok with him because he doesn't show alot of emotion. He did sound different but he had to be up at 5 am tuesday for whatever they do to them before going to airport. Hope we can be each others support :)

My daughter left 11/5. Can't wait to get that first call or letter from her. I just hope she prepared herself physically. I never saw her work out, but she says she did. She was waiting to go for about a year and a half. I was expecting it, but not really prepared....nothing can prepare you for them leaving. I missed her the moment I left her at MEPS. I am so proud of her, but then again, I've always been proud of her.

Oh no! I forgot about the wisdom teeth extractions! My poor baby girl doesn't do well at the dentist. She had to have a root canal last month. She wanted me with her the whole time, but it wasn't allowed. They had to give her "happy pills" & gas to get her through it. Then, she had a regular check up & felt the need for the "happy pills" prior to going. I hope she does okay & that they aren't too rough on her. She had a bad dentist experience when she was little that left her with a phobia.

How did your daughter do with getting her teeth pulled? My son has to have his done also. Do you know when they do it? Probably during the first week, while they're still processing them.

I don't know if they did it yet....I haven't gotten any personal letters from her yet, but will post if/when I find out.

I got my letter!! PIR 12/28! That made me so happy, I wasn't expecting PIR until Jan 4. Feel like this may go really fast since the holidays are upon us so quick. I hope it goes fast for my SR! Praying for him everyday and now I can send letters to encourage him.

Nicksmom I say enjoy every single second together as the time will fly so quickly. My son left Nov. 12 th and it seems like he's been gone forever, I can't wait to get his box and PIR date. All the moms on this site are really nice and talking to them all makes time go by a bit quicker. Also lots of support and good ideas!stay strong!

I did get my letter. I've already sent him 3 letters. I just know from reading around on this site that when they don't get mail it really is a bummer for them. I've encouraged others to write, but not to put anything crazy on the envelope. I had to remind his buddies here at home that the Navy is no joke and they don't think all their silliness is funny. I am so looking forward to PIR. Hopefully I will get to meet some of you ladies there!

I know that they will be there over the holidays, but today is my son's 22nd birthday and boy this is tougher than I thought. I realized this is the first time in 22 years I won't be able to sing to him on his birthday! Brought the tears back. Seems a little silly, I know, but he's still a little boy to me even though he's turning into a grown man. Reminds me of that book that says "I'll like you for always, I'll love you forever. As long as I'm living my baby you'll be"

I know how you feel stephm66! He has had 21 years to hear your voice when you sang to him, so have no doubt that he is not thinking of that today! And you can still sing it to him even though he is not at home! My daughter is in GL now too; she left New Orleans, La. on the 6th of November. Her 21st Birthday is December 5th so in a couple of weeks I will be like you are! I received her box of clothing yesterday after 2 failed attempts by FEDEX and I smelled her scent in them which gave me a little fix until I can hug her again! My prayers are with all other Moms, the kids and families who are currently enduring our loved ones' absence. God Bless!
