For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Lights out
Anyone know what time in bootcamp that they start the day and end the day? I have heard a couple different times. I'm asking about a normal day not an early surprise day.

Although there will be constant exceptions to the schedule, yes, usually the lights will go out at 22 and they'll wake you back up from somewhere between 5 and 6. earliest for me I think was like 4 in the am, and 20-21 at night, but that was pre-battlestations I believe

well. besides lights out sleepytime. classroom is usually a good time for the recruits to chill. they also usually get a chance to BS with their instructor/RTC, which allows them a glimpse into the REAL Navy.

Sometimes though, their assigned time to iron can be in the "wee hours". My sailor said that there were times when he was ironing at 2:00 AM because that was the only time available.
Lights Out is a little misleading too, there is a red light burning while they sleep. Of course, they are so exhausted they could sleep under a strobe light on bare pavement.

Oh yes! Mine rarely did his own laundry until he went to college, then he dressed according to the "smell test". In bootcamp, he had to iron EVERYTHING and shine his shoes constantly. No more "Mom my tennis shoes are grungy, I need new ones"
When he came home on leave, he cleaned my counter tops in the kitchen, arranged everything and worked exceedingly fast doing it! (I'm a very messy cook)

Lol Tn Navy Mom,
I cleaned my SRs room the day after he left. It looked like a bomb blew up in there. I should have left it alone and let him realize that I always had a legitimate gripe about how messy he was. The Navy will teach our kids stuff that we never would be able to accomplish.
