Hello ladies! There has been some chatter about our Meet & Greet. The Ramada puts it on regardless if we choose to attend or not, from what I understand. There have also been many mixed reviews about the quality of it lately. Please let us know what you think, what you have heard, any suggestions, etc. We want to be able to have a great time with each other!! Let's start talking...we shouldn't wait til the last minute to decide.

I totally agree with you. Obviously if there is going to be a financial liability for this then everyone is going to have to pitch in...It wouldn't be fair to put that burden on just a few ppl when we are already spending alot of money to attend PIR. I would like it to be a fun, relaxing evening...don't really want to fight the crowds after a long day's drive.
On the Ramada Inn website, it shows they have several meeting spaces. Has anyone called to see how much a meeting space might be. (or if they might let us use one for free) Just wondering if we went ahead and had the meet and greet there, but had the availability of an "overflow" space, since they host the M&G in their lounge/restaurant and it is open to the public. It's my understanding it gets pretty full. Wondering if we could bring pics of our recruits/sailors and have them displayed in the extra meeting space.
We will be staying at the Ramada in as well. This week end I am writing a letter to address the poor service and grumpy behavior some PIR groups have been exposed to . I will let you know the responds, if any. I was thinking perhaps we could check and see if a meeting room could be opened up, with as large a group as this PIR, that might be possible. Oh and what event tab am I looking for?
Hi, all, just thought I'd do some " Recon" of my own to see what else would be available if we decided to keep it a N4Ms meet and greet, rather than the Ramada one which is open to the public;
It seems that there are options out there; of course a banquet room would mean $$$ from us; however, I spoke with the manager at Anastasia's who said they have a back room we could reserve and if needed we can overflow to the main dining room; however I think we'd be 'ordering' food there, no 'free food' which isn't something that matters to me but may matter to some of the other N4Ms.
They can fit 60ish in the back room; does anyone know how many N4Ms actually do come to the meet and greet?

I also checked out some of the local American Legions, the one I could find on a website has a banquet room too; I didn't speak to the guy in charge yet but if we could get that for 'free' and use their 'bar' for drinks, would that be a place anyone would be interested in? Knowing from the American Legions I've been in, we're not talking 'atmosphere' though. LOL but it's a thought.

Or I noticed in reading PIRs from this summer, that some had the meet and greet at the Ramada and then moved to another place (such as Anastasias or Flanagans) for dinner and to have more time / less crowds to socialize with other N4Ms.

Any and all feedback is fine--I'd be glad to contact more places - the 'ideal' meet and greet, for me, would be a place to mingle, maybe buy some drinks, and munch on some munchies that we all contributed. Wonder if there's a pavilion at some park near the Lake...hmmm....
Sounds like an idea! Love the American Legion idea too. Even if we meet at the Ramada one, and things get a bit hectic, and they won't open a separate area for the N4M's... we can move to another location. I'm sure after all these years of hosting the M&G, the Ramada 'knows' the N4M's and may be able to respond favorably to the suggestion of opening another area for us. It will be a rather large PIR group; they may consider it.
Hi all! I've just gotten onto the sight... Mom of SR in SHIP 10 DIV 340. As for the meet & greet - I've also heard the Ramada is not great, but like others have said - it will be what we make it!! It is quite a cost factor for some of us just getting to PIR & hotel & food... so personally I would prefer to keep the costs down as much as possible also.

The ribbons are to... distinguish N4M's from general public, or what is the purpose of them? Not sure I'm following everything ?
1proudmother, hi! I believe the ribbons were started as a way for N4Ms to 'recognize' each other wherever we are, within our divisions at the PIR, or at a meet&greet. I just like the look of them! I know some PIRs have done other things to 'find' each other: sailor hats, lanyards, too.
I've been looking over the brochure we received. Motel 6 is the least expensive, shuttle to PIR and has complementary reception and restaurant. It's only 4 miles from base. I'm a single mom, and the money I ear marked for this trip had to be spent a few months ago when my dad passed away suddenly and I had to go to Florida. So needless to say, I need to keep my costs down. I figure the money I save on a room, can allow me to have extra spending money for my son.
Mom of SR ship 10 DIV 337.
Hey Jan, I didn't pay any attention to the Motel 6 ad because its so blurry, I couldn't make it out. I'm like you--single mom here. Are you driving in?
Yes, I am renting a car on the 7th, and leaving in the morning. It should only take me 6 hours to get there. Look at the top of the brochure, motel 6 is the last one listed. It shows what all is included. I looked at it on line, it looked nice.
I also called The Navy Lodge. 2 queen size beds and a kitchenette $65 a night.
We are staying at the Navy Lodge. It seemed really a good deal, and they don't charge tax. We booked 3 nights, and it is $195. I figure I can cook for my son while I have him.
