Hi,

I'm looking for new Navy moms from the Nashville/Middle TN area.  Son is a DEPPER and leaves for boot camp end of June 2013.  Would like to make some new friends close to me that are going through the same stages and emotions.

I think it would be great to put something together quarterly.  Our boy has been in 10 years and we have gone thru many separations and endured many worries (i.e. Iraq), as well as adventures (i.e. Hawaii). Been thru many emotions.

Ready to start when you are -- hoping to hear from others in the state/area who would like to join us and give us hints on how it's done -- rent a meeting room at a hotel or restaurant (as we did in MN) or just meet at a restaurant and reserve a big table.

I'm thinking Nashville would be a good place to meet -- fun to get into the "big city" once in awhile.  As for August 23 or September 14, either work for hubby and me.  I'm thinking September 14 would work better planning-wise -- getting number of people who would attend and then finding the restaurant.  Thoughts?

The 14th may not work for me as that is our 30th anniversary weekend and we usually go somewhere for the weekend. Is it possible to do the 21st?
Congrats on PIR next week Stacy! So exciting! And Jan you'll be such a help to us newer Navy moms!
Let me know what part of nashville you would like to meet and I can give some options. Would Brentwood area be good? Or something around the 100 Oaks area?
Cindy

September 21st works for me as well and Vanderbilt football has an away game that week.  I think Brentwood would have more options for us.   So, I vote for Brentwood or downtown/Broadway .   For the first meeting, I suggest we pick a restaurant and a lunch meeting.   This would give us the most flexibility in accommodating people as this would be something new and we may have some last minute drop ins.  The Blackstone Brewery downtown has an excellent menu, fairly easy to get in for lunch, onsite free parking, and is casual with a large dinning area available.  Any thoughts about the Brentwood area?

Oh no, September 21 is when we are going to Auburn to see my brother.  Dang.  Back to August 23?  I love the idea of Blackstone Brewery.  I remember when we attended the lunches in MN, there was a lot of kibitzing before, during and after the lunch, I think that's why they had a private dining room.  If Blackstone has a room, that would be good, or if they have a bar, we could go in there and chat.  I might check it out on line.  It's too bad when you go to big luncheons and you end up only talking to your immediate neighbors and never get to meet the people at other ends of the table.

Blackstone has a bar, a very large dining area and a lounge/seating area with leather couches and chairs.   Another place in the downtown area that has a casual comfortable feel is the Flying Saucer.  It has a very extensive beer menu and the food is fantastic.    The seating is comfortable and ample.   The restaurant has a main dining area with a bar, a sunroom, and if memory serves a private room as well.  We've eaten in the main dining and sunroom areas.  It's usually quite full at night.   Thus, a lunch time might be best here as well.  Just offering it as an option as it is a place designed for people to "hang out" in.   It really is a unique spot in the Nashville downtown area.   It's located adjacent to the Union Station hotel and opposite the Frist Art Museum.

Blackstone is good with me too. If you want I can provide options for Brentwood as well since I work in Maryland farms. Just let me know! So 8/23?
If sept is best for others my hubby and I could plan on the wkend of 9/21 instead. One is as good as the other.

8/23 works for me as well and it's a date prior to football season.   Just let me know.   I would like to post it as an event on the Tennessee moms page and get the word out to the recruiters in town.   I thought they might pass it along to families in the DEP program.

That Saturday is the 24th. I'm good with wherever just let me know. And let me know how I can help. Excited! And that's the Saturday before our PIR!

Saturday 8/24 sounds great to me.  I'll put it on our calendar.  Hope we get a good turnout.  It'll be fun meeting up with Navy moms/spouses/etc and DEPPER moms.  I remember when I was a DEPPER mom ... sigh .... so long ago.  I was so young ... and cute

I am so excited to meet everyone on 8/23.  I posted on the RTC 8/9 PIR webpage that we are organizing a get together and we already have 61 views.   Wow.   With that said, I would like to nail down a venue so we can get the word out.  Are we in agreement for the Blackstone?  How about we set a time of 11:30 (early enough not to have seating problems) for our first go at this?
