My 19 year old daughter left September 11th.
I got my "I'm here" phone call around 9:30 pm that same night. I am anxiously awaiting 'the box' - and the form letter.
I would love to connect with another mom whose daughter (or son!) arrived the same day...

nice to know kimclean. we're in this together!
I fought this as hard as I could, to no avail.
I've accepted it and cheered her on ... and now---- I wait.
This is Son # 2 for us to join the Navy, and he to left on 9/11 havent received letter or box yet, it does get easier when they can call more they are doing a good thing and make us soo proud.
My son Nigel left Sept 11 and I missed the "I'm here" phone call but his dad got it.
How are you holding up now? Tonight is the first night I have not come home and cried.
What did your daughter go in for? My son went in for Damage Control. So looking forward to seeing him at PIR.
Keep your chin up. It will get easier, right?????
I got the box yesterday.
I wasn't prepared to see it sitting on the porch - so my heart dropped and I waited for the tears ... they didn't come like I thought they would - probably b/c the contents stunk a little :)
I hope it gets easier, I can think of nothing else.
I know she is safe, I keep telling myself she is safe.
I keep telling myself that it's a GOOD thing I haven't got a phone call --- that means she is okay and hasn't freaked out.
She went in to be a corpsman - and she is so excited about that.
She is 19 -- and she is 6'1" ---- I say that b/c I read yesterday that they line up for chow from shortest to tallest so my girl is gonna always be the last in line!
Did anyone else get their box?? Their letter??
I have not received letter or box, I cleaned his room today, that was hard, he left it a mess told me it would give me something to do..lol. it was hard, for this being my second son to join it is still very hard, miss him to much. I just try to remember how excited he was to go and to start his new adult life... older son tells me he will do fine. Cant wait for first phone call!!!!!!
I clean my daughter's room tomorrow! Her shoes and clothes are still all over the laundry room and her room is scattered from her last nite home!! she put a lot of her things in a corner she wants me to send to her when she heads to San Antonio.. I miss her "messy" self!!
My son arrived at GL on 9/12 too. Your box came quickly. I've read that most boxes take a week or more. I called my mother to find out she had received his and she has not. I told my son to send everything to her because I'm overseas and it would take 3 weeks or more before I would receive anything from him. It takes just as long for anyone in the States to receive anything from me. Hoping that she receives it soon along with the form letter as our letters for him are piling up. :)
