Sometimes we I get our ETs and FCs confused or simply not sure which sailors are what rate so it was suggested that we start a new list so if you don't mind signing in to the the appropriate forum...I won't call your sailor an FC...if you don't call mine an ET!!! :-D

Hey Deborah, the 30th will be here before you know it :-D. We can only say typically when they come out of PIR, they will go thru indoc for a few days and then to SCC classes. SCC are basic seamanship classes that run about two weeks and are held in the evenings. Usually once they complete SCC they will move to another ship and start ATT classes. Since he is an ET, he will start and complete his ATT classes in GL (these are apprentice technical training classes) and when ATT is over - then he will start his actual A school classes. Because this is a heavy self-paced computer program, they will finish in 5 - 8 months depending on the sailor and any obsticles that may get in the way.

Sailors find out about their C school assignments about two weeks before they wrap up A school. Their C school location and length will vary depending on their class standing, the needs of the Navy and what orders happen to be available that day.

I do tend to say "typically" or "usually" alot as thing can change depending on what is going on in GL or how many students are waiting for a computer or how many new sailors just came in from boot camp, etc. They don't typically stray much from what I describe but if they don't have computers available - there could be a delay or if a building needs painting they may move three times instead of two. There was ALOT of moving from building to building before the holidays and we don't always understand WHY but ...we don't always need to know...either!!
Mary thanks for the info, that was good info!
My son is an ET today! YEA!!!!!!
Jackie, Please send my congratulations to John!!!! I know that you are thrilled!!! I hope thatyou found a Mom or Dad to get some pictures for you.
Yay! Always a good day when we get another ET!
No pictures! One Young man took some on John's camera but non of them turned out, all blurry! He said the whole thing took about 5 min. The LT. Lined them all up in the hallway and gave them their piece of paper and that was it. So glad I did not make the trip up for that! You were lucky Mary.
Oh my Jackie, I am sorry to hear that - our ceremony lasted about an hour but we did have a re-enlistment as well as a frocking so that added to the ceremony. If none of that was taking place and no guests, I can see where they would hand them their certificates and send them down the road.

I could share some of my A school photos...probably same LT and since they are all in dress blues...they look alike...right?!!! LOL
I will just have John dress in his uniform and take a picture of him holding the certificate. That will have to do.
Jackie,
A BIG Congrats to John (and you too, proud Mom!) What a job well done!!!! We are going up for it. Claire may or may not be a part of a larger ceremony, but it is one more chance to see and be with our daughter before she goes to Japan in mid April and I'm not gonna miss it. Don went up for Patrick's graduation from Corps School and we want to be there for Claire's graduation too! BRRRR....Thursday is supposed to have a low in the negatives! That is mighty cold for this East Texas gal!
Have a great time Millye! I know that you are so proud of her as you should be. If my child would be going overseas I would feel the same way about not missing anything. I hope that she has a good Ceremony! Stay Warm!

Congratulations to you ALL!
You won't even notice the cold Millye - it's all about spending time with Claire! Has she informed her instructors that you will be there? They do not like surprises and they want to have a certificate made out for you as well.

Are you driving up there this time???
No, we are flying into O'Hare on Thursday morning, renting a SUV, and then driving north to Waukegan. We got a really good deal at the Residence Inn there for the Navy rate of $69 a night. We love staying there anyway, but that sealed the deal. We also got a flight and car package thru American Airlines that saved a BUNCH of money. So, all in all, it won't be quite as expensive as it could've been. Yes, Claire has already told her instructors that we are coming up. She's hoping to be leaving herself on Sunday so we can all go to OHare together...don't know how that will work out. Sure do hope it does! It would be that much longer we get to be together! :-)
