Sometimes we I get our ETs and FCs confused or simply not sure which sailors are what rate so it was suggested that we start a new list so if you don't mind signing in to the the appropriate forum...I won't call your sailor an FC, if you don't call my sailor an ET!!! :-D

My Sailor is an FC, named Nick and he is currently in C school @ Dahlgren

Hi Julie, my son just graduated FC A school last friday. He is going to Dam neck and will be stationed in Norfolk on the USS Bataan.

What I suggest, is tell your husband to do as good as he can in school. It seems the better they do, the more likely he will get his pick for which weapons system they want. They also base it on how well they do with inspections too.

Stephen told me that they had 100 sailors graduating FC A school at the same time. They had them all in the room, and called out peoples names for CIWS, Aegis and Tomahawk. He said that the ones that got CIWS had to do "rock, paper, scissors" to choose between: Hawaii, Virginia, or San Diego.

Good luck to your husband.
Hi Julie

I've been reading for awhile but haven't jumped in till now. My son Ian is an FC at GL and is in SCC right now. He moves over to the Enterprise tomorrow and expects to finish SCC by end of week. Not sure if he is in same group as your husband but it sounds pretty close! He also hopes for Dam Neck for C school.

Carol
They must be in the same group, Danny moved to the Enterprise today too! He'll finish SCC on Tuesday because of the something going on Friday then the holiday Monday. He's ready for ATT to start!

Julie
Julie - CCR's son is currently in San Diego for CIWS, they have the class in both locations --
Hi Everyone!
I haven't been on again for a while, lots of stuff going on and not enough hours in a day :) My son is also an FC he is in C school in Dahlgren,VA - he has been there since the middle of January. It was so hard to see him drive off, we actually only live 2 hours away from GL! I feel terrible because I keep forgetting what his exact classification is - I believe it is Aegis Computer Systems. Has anyone who has a sailor in Dahlgrens been there yet for a visit? I was wondering if anyone could share with me what is exactly out there: I mean was there any type of entertainment, where did you stay and if you know if there is a MWR in Dahlgren to help with travel tickets like there was at GL.....Glad to finally be back, nice to "meet" you all....Peggy
Hey Peg, I know there are at least four of us from this group with Sailors currently in Dahlgren. We are not planning a trip there but if you do go, Washington DC and Baltimore should be on your list of things to do. Both are less than two hours away and there is also historic Williamsburg. We've done this sites a few times while the kids were...still kids!

I believe Karla is going to see her sailor at the end of the month and I'm sure she will share some details with us. How much longer is Danny there? We are looking at a August graduation ---
Hi! How have you been? It's been a while since we "talked" :)!
Dan had a graduation date in September, however; he thinks they moved it to October. Yes, regarding Washington DC - I was looking at different options as far as travel to Dahlgrens - driving is just too long (and I"m not sure my car would make the trip at this time). There was a flight from Chicago to Washington DC - my initial reaction was I typed my destination incorrectly, so I re-checked and I did enter Dahlgren, VA. I really thought that it was odd, it had to be hours away from each other - it was actually only 20 minutes away! Thank you for the suggestions as far as things to do while visiting. I can't wait until I see him again! This is so hard!
Do you happen to know what is your sailor's NEC? ( I think this is the acronym I am looking for, i.e. Aegis Weapon, etc...) I know Danny told me once and all I remember is Aegis Computer Systems - I apologize, I know I probably am wrong but gee - there has been so much going on since last time I have been on-line -I'm happy that I finally have a little extra time!
That's great if Karla would share some little suggestions and details with us! I hope you have a great time, Karla!!!!! Thanks for you response!
Hey Peg, we are very much looking forward to our trip. It will be short , from Fri to Mon so we do not have much time. We plan to spend one day in DC and one in Virginia beach. We are staying in Fredericksburg which is near Dahlgren because when we made our reservations we were not sure if Ryan might have to go back for duty at some point. We are flying from St Louis to Baltimore as it was the cheapest of all the surrounding airports. Ryan is AEGIS computer and his grad was moved from Sept to Oct, I wonder if they know each other.
Hi Karla,
I will ask Dan if he knows your son - but he only knows last names..what is your last name? I finally asked Danny what the proper name for his NEC and he told me Aegis Network Technician, but it sure sounds like it is! Thanks for the information! I would be flying out from Chicago - let me know what you think. I am trying to find the cheapest way because I want to be able to go for graduation as well. Hope you have a great time! Peggy
Karla and Peg, one way to know if your sons are together could be based on what shift they are going to class and what their duty section is. It is a small base and they are assigned a duty section and it appears they can know each other from duty sections.

Peg - it is good to see you stop in. Nick is coming home for Memorial Day weekend :-) He is flying out of Baltimore this trip but in January he flew into Dulles in DC, so just shop the different airports in DC and Baltimore for rates. Nick's graduation date is mid August but that doesn't mean he will have orders...
Hi Peg, nice to see you again!
Hi!
I'm glad to finally have the chance to get back on-line with all of my on-line friends!!!! I really did miss this, I felt so lonely and isolated - because if I had questions/unsure about an issues, Dan wasn't sure what I was asking...BUT he literally is always busy. He doesn't get good reception in VA at all - and he said that VA really takes it serious about talking on the cell phone while driving....
How have you been? It may take time to slowly get back in the swing of things, but I will get there! I appreciate this site and all the nice friends that I've met!
