Sometimes we I get our ETs and FCs confused or simply not sure which sailors are what rate so it was suggested that we start a new list so if you don't mind signing in to the the appropriate forum...I won't call your sailor an FC, if you don't call my sailor an ET!!! :-D

My Sailor is an FC, named Nick and he is currently in C school @ Dahlgren

Hi Anne,
We are waiting to hear if our sailor starts ATT since she is done with INDOC and SCC - are you impressed with all the Navy terms I am using? Just don't ask me what they mean!!!!!

Have you hear if Steve knows when school actually will start?
He has finally started SCC as of last Thursday.
Yeah - are they still doing SCC in the evenings Anne? The night that Nick finished SCC, they told him he was moving to a new ship and start ATT the next morning. Typically there are not long holds but I think things got bottled down with the holidays. Hopefully everyone will be getting into the groove soon.
Yeah he is doing it in the evenings, kinda messed up my trip last weekend to go see him but I still got to spend time with him so that was good.Does anyone know how ATT works is it typically day or evening classes or does it vary?
Anne, ATT is a day class HOWEVER...they strongly "encourage" volunteer night sessions and if a student is lagging in the class or struggling they will do more than encourage them - they will make night sessions mandatory. With the excess talk of holds - they could do some mandatory night shifts in addition to their day classes to push some of them along. They were doing mandatory classes in the evening before the holidays. Generally it does not effect their weekends but I do remember ONE weekend that Nick was in the city and had to return to base as did others and did report to school on a Saturday but they were really trying to push alot of them out before the holidays - at least that is what it appear to be.
Ok thanks I just wanted to get a feel as to what the schedule might be like.
So I'm kind of curious he will go from indoc to SCC then to ATT to A school then back to ATT and on to C school from there? Also being that there were so many people on hold before the exodus is it a likely guess that he might be put on hold somewhere in there? Thanks for the help all.I have been reading the posts here but I still feel very clueless.
Yes Anne, indoc is first, then SCC, then the first 1/2 of ATT, then A school, then the second 1/2 of ATT, then he will either go to San Diego, Dahlgren or Damneck Virginia for C school. Stephen only had a short hold between indoc and SCC and then SCC and the first ATT. He has been in A school for 3 months, however he really had trouble and struggled in the Radar modules. He has been in mandatory night study sessions for quite some time now.

C school is also different lengths depending on which weapons system they get assigned.

Trust me, I was clueless when Stephen first started too. You are not alone!!!

We are all here to help each other :)
Our sailors can also be clueless during the process Anne as they don't really know - until they need to know. Like Barbara, I believe our son only experienced 3 days of hold and that was going into SCC. The day he completed SCC, he reported immediately to ATT. When he completed ATT, he moved directly to A school.

But with a self-paced program there is no way for the Navy to know if sailor A is going to be on that computer for 5 months, where the sailor B sitting next to him may only need 4 months so that is where some of the back up comes into play.

There simply no easy way to know about "holds"
Thanks for the replies all. When I spoke with him yesterday he said he doesn't think he will be put on hold before SCC atleast.
my son had a long hold after Bootcamp, but once he started SCC, hes had no holds since, he is now 1/2 way though A school. Seems like once they get going they move along pretty good. Its self paced so some will get though it much quicker than others.
We just got the 'yearbook' with Shannon's picture in her dress blues and as one knows, all the gals were not allowed to wear make up or restyle their hair. Needless to say, I am actually glad she did not pay for pictures to be given out to family because honestly, all the gals looked pretty sad!!!
I took a couple of pictures of Shannon in her dress blues, did a bit of cropping and put that in the Sailor's frame that she gave us - even if I must say so myself - not a shabby picture of her! Okay, she was then allowed to wear make up and her hair had grown out a bit . . . .
