My Son is leaving for Boot Camp Nov 18th...anyone else?

After my son joining the DEP program last December the day is almost here. He is scheduled to leave for BC on November 18th. He is the youngest of three boys for me and this is going to be so hard not having contact with him for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Looking for other Moms out there for support!!!

Got my box, today. We weren't sure what to expect but as we took out each dirty item, we had a good picture of how it must have been - each SR standing in line with his/her box in hand, divesting themselves of the last vestiges of their civilian life and tossing them in the box. No folding. No turning back. No time. Every minute is planned - scheduled in concrete - no deviation. Onward and outward. For those who've not looked before they lept, they stood in line, eyes wide and disbelieving. I suspect that to some degree, they all experienced the shock of change. :chuckle: Is anyone really prepared for boot camp. :sigh: Our mantra, as we've stoically faced the silence and emptiness left by our won: He's getting three squares, has a roof over his head, will gain a clear sense of direction, is working towards a great career as a submarine sonar technician, and will take part in serving our country.

As I prepare the clothes to wash and put up 'the box', I struggle between pride, a strong sense of patriotism, the selfish sadness of a mother 'losing' her baby to boot camp/the military, and the knowledge that the boy I handed over will return a man.

Son 'A' , Ship 10, Div 066.
my son went to RTC today (left here yesterday) and I am a complete mess.....so I am right here with you!
My daugter left From Nash TN on Nov 18th too. I wonder if they are in the same group?? I did get the 1st phone call from her that night. I am constantly wondering what she is doing. Its going to be hard at Thanksgiving not having her. Hope all is going well for your son.
My daughter's letter came today. She is ship 10 division 063. Graduation is 1/22. Going to start writing now. There was a brief message on the bottom which really helped. She is working hard. Can wait to see us at graduation.....Sort of scary at first but getting used to it.
could you please tell me what day she went in. I havent heard from my daughter yet and she went in on 11/18 Thank you so much
My son went in on the 24th, so he should be graduating with your daughter. I havent gotten the letter yet, but we were away for the weekend and cannot access the post office today, as it is sunday....now I am biting my nails until the post office opens tomorrow morning!!!
My daughter is in the same Ship and div. Her name is Kimberly. I have a knot in my stomach everyday waiting for that first call so I can hear how she is.
Recieved my son's Graduation packet today, He will graduate on January 22,2010.
What ship and division, Angela? My son should be the same! I will let you know when we can get into the post office tomorrow! That would be SOOO nice to know they are together and we can talk!
Ship 10 Division 066, I would love that, it sure would make it a little easier.
Well, I just called the recruiter and he is ship 10, Div 071.
Even though they are in a different Division, who knows they may cross paths at some point and I would still love to continue talking with you.
