Hi, Marylou. Nice to see you here. Check out the group "Leaving for Boot Camp in October". There are other mothers with children leaving the same time as your son. We all look forward to sharing our journey with you. Kathy
Thank you.
i have created a group, Your Questions Answered, and i would love to help in any way possible. My mom used this site while i was in boot camp June-August of 2009. I am now stationed in Norfolk, Va.
Its a new group, but im hoping many will join. Thanks and good luck
My daughter is leaving on Oct 5th
Hi,
My son is also leaving for IL on Oct. 6th. We are in NC so he goes to Charlotte NC on the 5th spends the night then leaves on the 6th. I am having a rough time dealing with this as the time gets closer. Good luck to your son and to you, as I am sure you are feeling the same as I am. Such mixed feelings. Hope to talk with you during this journey.

Carrie
Maybe our sons will be together. My son meets his recruiter and then he takes him to MEPS. From there, he is catching a flight to IL. What have you done to celebrate your time together?
About the same here; The recruiter will take him to MEPS tomorrow's evening, He didn't wanted to do anything, he is so calm and seems to be relax and Im just trying to hide my feelings, I guess tomorrow My oldest son and I we will take him to have lunch and then I will take him to the recruiters office, that's about it...the pain in my hearth it's growing like crazy. Im sure you know what Im talking about...My son's name is Max, what's your son's name? Tell me about how you guys celebrate your time together...God be with them all the way 'till they come back home. Hope to hear from you!!
Maria,

My son's name is Jay. We had a party for him on Saturday which included neighbors, friends and family. Yesterday he hung out with his friends and said goodbye. Tonight, he is with his girlfriend and tomorrow is our time. Maybe breakfast and a movie and then come back home and just be together. Then the whole family will go out to dinner.

I have been fine, with tears from time to time, but once we got his party out of the way, all I can think about is his going away, so I've been a mess. I try to stay strong, but it's so tough. I cried all the way to work this morning and then on the way back. I've already told my bosses that i do not want anyone to mention my son's name when i return back to work on Thursday.

So, are you able to go to MEPS to see him swear in? My son wants me to take him to his recruiters and then they'll go to MEPS together. I told him I would love to see him get sworn in, but I don't think he wants me to get emotional.

I will pray for our sons.
Hi Maria,
My daughter left today. We got to see her sworn in and went to the airport with her. Surprisingly...with all the waiting and hanging out I did not get too emotional when she left!!! but now, as I sit here waiting for the call, I am a mess. The butterflies and sick stomach have returned!!! I hope these 8 weeks go by in a flash!
My sons name is Spencer. Hope they are all doing well can not wait to hear from him.
