Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

My son went to GL yesterday as well--he called me late last night. He is not joining SWCC but that was high up on a want for him--he is Corpsman and hoping for fleet marine force then perhaps SWICC later in his career.
I thought BC was 8 weeks--it is 12?

It is only 8 weeks. We were under the understanding it was 12 weeks. I find it very wierd that the recruiters did not clarify that 4 us..oh well...Where did your son fly in from? I have spent time on you tube (for the first time) there is some great videos on arrival and first day at BC.

I saw some of the youtube videos as well--dry but informative. i was glad to see and picture where he was and what he may be doing. I am sure your son is in excellent shape since he is going for SWCC, my son is also in top physical condition so I am not sure how demanding the fitness aspect will be for either of the boys!
Tony (my son) flew out of Maine so opposite direction as your son.
I was told today that the recruiter would have the mailing address of my son but I am not sure how accurate that is.

I agree with you on the videos. It is nice to get a visual of what they are going through. Devin (my son) is in good shape, but I bet both of our boys will be in even better shape come PIR ! !

Yes, night before last--so the 2nd. It was short maybe 90 seconds. I wish we would have talked longer, I have since read that it is a 5 minute call. Did you hear from Tony?

yes he called and gave the speech about the box etc and it was also very short and yes i also have read it could have been longer. :-(
have you called the recruiter yet for the address? I called Tony's today and he said he is still in processing so not yet.

I received the same answer from Devin's recruiter....still processing. I am looking for the group of moms whos sons left in March. Can you help me find them? This has been the hardest week of my life and talking to others is so comforting for me. Thanks

Don't know if you found the March group yet or not...I don't know how to link, but if you go to my page, there should be a link under my "groups" in the sidebar. Lots of us with kids who left this week!
