I/we were told the same thing that it may be end of Jan. early Feb. I am so excited to find someone else whos son will be leaving the same day as my son...

Mine leaves November 10 and I was wondering the same thing???

We just got word that my son got reclassed with the job that he really really wanted! He called me and asked me if I wanted the good news or the bad news...I said the good and that's when he told me he got his job!!! then I asked what the bad was and he said that he was leaving on Nov. 9th...THREE WEEKS AWAY! We thought he would be leaving in January or February...so right away we started the planning. His favorite holiday is Thanksgiving...so our family has decided to do Thanksgiving on Nov. 5th. I am really sad about him leaving but oh so proud of him!

Proud of Gar...he is leaving on the 21st, like mine? or the 10th, like disneyfans? I'm hoping someone can explain why it would be longer bc from what I've read so far, it doesn't look like they close down...it's just business as usual...
Yes the 21st like yours :)! The recuriter really couldn't explain it to me but he did want us to be aware that it would be a little longer. I am excited that I finally found a mom whos son is leaving the same day what state are you from?
WOW! How exciting!! We are from Western MA, you?
So sorry to just now be getting back with you...we live in Oklahoma he will be leaving out of Oklahoma City. They told us he will actually leave home on the 20th and spend the night in the city and leave for BC on Monday my husband and I plan to go and stay in the City on Sunday as well. He is going to be either an AT or an AE how about yours?
No worries!! So happy we've connected...our son will be a CS. It wasn't the first on his wishlist but absolutely nothing was coming up in the system even though he qualified for so many...No matter what his Dad said, (a navy vet who did not want him to go unrated) he was going in no matter what, even if unrated...he has been soooo excited to go, has wanted this since he was little! So when the recruiter told him CS came up in the system, he took it, bc he really did want an A School if possible and even though it wasn't his first choice, he will still be caring for people, helping with morale, and hey, even if he decides it's not what he wants to do as a career when he gets out, at least it's a skill that will come in handy in everyday life, so he is thrilled and I'm happy if he's happy =) I'm not sure what AT and AE are but I will look it up! Is he excited too? I'm not sure how our departure day will go...the airport is only about 15 minutes away but I think maybe they meet at a base nearby and shuttle over together...I have to find out. We were all just talking about the holidays last night...going to be a difficult time for us! But we know we aren't alone and nor will he be...

I haven't forgotten about you!!! I have just been really really swamped with my new job and being in deniel that they are leaving soooo soon! He is excited I think if they called him and asked if he wanted to leave next week he would say YES! He says he is bored all his friends are either gone off to school, the marines or starting life as an adult. He worked for about a month and a half but since graduation thats about it, we didn't want to make him work all summer and knew it would be hard to find much knowing he would have to quit so soon. So he worked for a family friend til he had nothing else for him to do. He has been working out on his own and of course going to DEP meetings once a month. He has one friend leaving Dec. 1st and another that isn't leaving til March 2012.

Hehe I had to look up what a CS was to....hey I think thats great you are exactly right and there are tons of possibilities with that people pay lots of $$ to go to college for that and like my hubby said he will learn it and get to see the world for free!!!! When Gar went to MEPS the AE/AT was all that was available. I really don't know how that works once they are gone to BC if they can change jobs or what the majority of my family wanted him to join AirForce and he said he wanted nothing to do with Airplanes (he had his heart set on Navy) so it was kinda funny that he came home with a job working on them and he is thrilled.

Do you have a FaceBook I am on there way more than I am on here since I can do if from my phone. So anytime I'm riding with my husband or doing hall duty at school I can check it. Let me know!~

Hi! Great to hear from you again! Probably better off that you've been so busy! Takes your mind off of all this somewhat?! I'm having a tearful day...I'm sure there will be plenty of those but he hasn't even left yet so I best get my act together! Haha! My son is the same way, he'd leave today if he could! He had his last day of work last Saturday so he could take a month off to himself before his life dramatically changes! His employers were amazing about it, they surprised him and decorated the whole deli with red white and blue balloons, made fliers for patrons to sign well wishes on, had a cake for him, etc etc...I thought that was so nice! He did too! I am on Facebook, aren't we all?! lol...those of us with kids have to be to keep track of them!! hahahaa! I will inbox you my info, look me up! Have a wonderful day! =)
my son leaves the 8th...  i havent hear this yet... but i went thru boot from sept to dec. Had thanksgiving with a host family (nice break) also got delayed because i got sick during boot...  my question is when do they start training... we had to wait to fill our company ( i guess they call them divisions now) many unanswered questions.
Hmm...I guess we'll wait n' see...we've gotten lots of practice with that!! =) Good luck!!
