my son leaves on October 2, 2012 for boot camp.  I am so happy and proud of him.  But, not sure when I will stop crying.

thanks so much. I got that 5 second scripted call at 1:15 this morning. I could hear the instructors yelling in the background. it was so hard hearing that and hearing the nervousnous in my son's voice. needless to say not much sleep last night.

i got my call around 10:30 pm.  i also could hear the yelling in the back ground. i was hoping they would let them get a good nights sleep.    i hardly slept last night myself. hoping to get a better nights sleep tonight.  no matter how much you think you are prepared, we are not.  i cant wait until we can write them and graduation is over.

no i was not prepared. he sounded so different and that was at 1:15am and he had been up since 4:00am that morning so he was up almost 24 hours. I hope he can get some sleep tonight. Me too. I dont think I have had a good night sleep in weeks just dreading the day he left.

Is anybody who left 10/2/12 going to be aviation ordance?

My son is going to be AV I am not sure if that is different or not. Where is your loved one's A school?

Hi Corky14, I think it is different. My son will go to Pensacola for A School.

Hi Debbie, it must be related somehow because my son's A School is also in Pensacola. I will have to see if I can find out what the difference is. I cant wait for him to get to Pensacola because it is only about 2 hours from where I live so I can go see him on the weekends.

How lucky for you Corky. We are in MN., so we couldn't be too much further away! I think anything to do with aviation goes to Pensacola. But I could be very wrong too!

well what I researched I think and I may be wrong, lol, is the Aviation Ordinance works with the explosives and weapons on the aircraft and what my son will be doing is actually AE which is the electronics on the aircraft. Like I said that is just the best info I found. I am sure they will know each other between being at boot camp together and going to A school. I am sorry you are so far away. That's how I feel right now about boot camp. I am not sure we are going to be able to afford to attend the graduation and that is killing me.

Oh Corky, you have to come up with a plan to get to PIR. Start looking now for cheap air fare.

trust me I am trying everything. my husband is a police officer so dont make much and does some painting work on the side so we are praying for a painting job so we can go. it will be cheaper for us to drive since there are 3 of us (me,husband, and daughter).so keep us in your prayers. :)

Yes, I will Corky. How long would it take to drive from there?
