I cannot believe my son leaves on Monday (4/5) it has been a long time coming but still seems like it was just yesterday he decided to join.  I am sad and excited all at the same time.  This web site has been a great help to me.  How soon before we get an address to write to them or is this all in the book that my son was supposed to bring home.

Hi, Maggie... my name is Marianne and I am new too... I live in Atlanta and my son left for bootcamp last Sunday, March 29th... that was such an emotional and sad day for me... I called my son's Petty Officer three days after Steven left, and he had the address for me then. If you have the number you should call. I read somewhere on this site that an informative letter will come to us as well... I may have jumped the gun, but I wrote and mailed two letters already, as I could not wait... good luck... hey, I guess I should add a picture!
Love,
Marianne
I am doing ok except at night when he would help me with my homework and we would talk. But I got the call from him that he made it safe and they were taking his phone.... For the first time in 19 years I will not talk to him daily. I know this is a good thing for him obvioulsy the strings needs to be cut and he will do fine. I love this web site it has helped mw wiht allthe planning before hand and the knowing that I am not alone. I cannot wait to get his address as I have already written him a letter. The recruiter said to call him tomorrow so it will be fine. Thank you so much for asking - so it seems our children will be gratuating at the same time. The recruiter said June 4th or so.
My son Steven left on April 4th to MEPS and to the Great Lakes on April 5th I just received his box of things this past Saturday. I still do not have the address to write to him. He did call when he got there for about 16 sec to say he was good and that he had already met some cool people. We are really proud of him and my dad retired Navy but I'm hoping it gets easier. I'm so glad for this website so I can learn and meet people going through the same things....
I got the adress from the recruiter on Friday and then Saturday we got the form letter in the mail and today the "box" came. I believe our sons are there at the same time.
Hi Schellie...My granddaughter also left for Great Lakes on 4-5. No address for us yet either. Hang on.
