My Son is leaving tomorrow for Boot camp, It has been a while since he was sworn in and now is leaving...
While I know this is the best choice he has made it sure is hard when a baby bird leaves momma's nest to spread his wings.
He will be going to the lakes in Chicago and we are planning / saving for Graduation, we know afterwards he will be going to San Antonio for his schooling, I am not all up on the gargon yet, but have a feeling I will learn soon.
I am the daughter of a Career Bubble Head (dad was on the Uss Parchee and retired after 26 years)

You must be so proud of him! My son leaves June 12th for the Great Lakes. I"m scared, nervous, sad, happy and proud. I guess the hardest part for me is knowing that when he leaves, he has left the nest for his next journey. I can't imagine him not being home, or answering the phone in the next few weeks when I want to call him. I have two boys, Ky is my oldest. I have one more baby bird at home who is 16 so he'll be around for a while.
Hang in there, I have found that his website/blog is very supportive.
Hello from another North CA mom. I left you a message on your personal page. Click MY PAGE on the above menubar. We have an active group in the San Fran Bay area. Come join us. In fact, we have a meet & greet on June 16 in Livermore.

My son left the same day for Great Lakes and it has been harder then I thought it would be.
My son leave on June 28th, I know exactly how you feel! I'm so happy for him to begin his life on his own, yet so sad that he'll be gone. He is my oldest, so this is all new to me!
I'm glad we're only about 6 hours from Great Lakes, we can drive up for his graduation!!
I'm having a really hard time following the posts on this board!! I got the email about your reply, but couldn't find the post!
