Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son left February 8th for boot camp.
I can't stop thinking about him and worrying about him. I start tearing up at the drop of a hat. I have been reading everything I can about what is happening to him each day. Some of it has comforted me some of it has worried me a little. I just hate not being able to call him or talk to him. Eight weeks seems like such a long time right now..

you can call the recruiter for the TEMPORARY address. It may be different from the one on the form letter. It may help you to join the 3/30 PIR group...lots of info in the discusssion forum. You may have to go back several pages. Here is the link http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir033012

trandles - my SR left January 5th and I thought I would die. He has been gone 36 days today and his PIR is in 21 days. This site will save your life. Sometime next week you will get "the box" which in my sons case included absolutey everything he took with him, including his contacts. You will cry. I got a call from him on January 31st for 20 minutes. (try not to cry, it upsets them when we are upset) We got our first letter on January 19th. (you will cry) Not that I've kept track of any of this!! ;-) I am expecting to go home today and find mail. I usually get it on Thursdays. I have written him a letter or sent him a card every single day since he left (except Sundays). He said when he got mail the first time, what was January 22nd he got 26 letters from friends and family!!! My sons recruiter gave me his address the day after he left, some don't. It was correct. Hang in there, chat often. It really helps. Especially when you see that nobody else is getting phonecalls and nobody else is getting letters! They will come! Good luck to your SR.

Hello... I know how you feel, my son left on Jan. 23rd. It's been a little over two weeks and it does feel better. I found that writing has helped me through this process. I write him letters every two or three days. I also bought this small journal, its a five year journal. It has five small entries for each day and each year. It will be interesting to read it after the five years. This is a difficult time for us as mothers. This web-site has been very supportive and its nice to share our feelings because only we understand what we are going through. Just think that our sons are learning new things that are going to benefit them in the future. They are starting a new adventure, one that will require them to be the best they can be. They will become better men for it. I realize that my life is different without him, that our family dynamic has changed. As mothers we are strong warriors also, we can move forward cheering them on with our love and support. That is all we can do right now. Don't worry it will get better each day.

That is so true that the family dynamic changes. I have and eight year old and a ten year old, both boys and they already miss their big brother bunches. They keep talking about all the stuff they won't be able to do with Josh because he is gone now. That makes me want to cry too. Thank you so much for your support.

My son also left on Feb. 8th. His little brother who is 11 years old and also is missing him. I have two daughters away at college, so our house is very quiet! We keep wondering when the "box" will arrive, my younger son is keeping a journal to share. This site also has helped a lot!

That sounds like a good idea. I will see if my two want to do that. They have already written him letters and drew him pictures. This site is helping me alot too.
