For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son started boot camp tues Aug.21st ...Anyone else have a son/daughter start that day? 2 days and I miss him so much already!!

Hi my son Alex also left for boot camp this week. I didnt realize it was going to be this hard on me and its only been two days. I cant imagine how I will feel in a week. This just might be harder on the mothers than our PR's. I wish i could just hear his voice it would make it easier. I can't bring myself to write him a letter yet in fear of the uncontrollable crying again. It does make me normal to know that others are feeling the same as sad as this is. I hope we all can stay strong and positive for children(PR's now) and all of your post are helping me a lot so thank you and good luck to you all. Kathie

I sat down and wrote my son yesterday. At first I did cry, I won't lie but it actually did help by the end. I think I'm going to write more in a little bit. Even though I can't mail it yet, it makes me feel closer to him. Here if you want to talk. You are not alone!

Hi...my Jacob left on Tuesday 08/21 also. That 34 second phone call killed me, it was just what I was expecting but it still hit hard. He sounded so tired. Been praying over and over for that kid of mine. I have been telling everyone that my son just left for the navy, I've written two funny letters so far to make him smile and hopefully laugh. Just writing the letters have made me smile. We have raised some pretty amazing kids. ladies...I sure am proud of my son. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you over the next 8 weeks.

Hi Ellen, Kyle sounded exhausted also. I absolutely know he's probably handling this better than I am. I'm also looking forward to getting to know everyone. Hopefully it will help us all get through this. Man it's hard! I'm very proud of him!!!

My son left for boot camp on the 20th. He is the youngest of three and it was harder to see him go than I imagined it would be. I don't remember it being this hard when my daughter joined the National Guard and went to boot camp. His box of clothes arrived today so now I am anxiously awaiting the first letter.

I watched a video about GL, sort of a tour of where they sleep, eat, swim, drill and I felt a lot better about everything. I guess seeing it, even in a video helps. That first call was rough...I'm looking so forward to a real letter and phone call!

Hey. I wasnt looking forward to my kid in the box but now I'm ready. It's a step forward for us all. I'm sure I'll cry though! I have been driving his car since Monday and it makes me feel better. Crazy huh?

Hey. I got my box yesterday. I know it sounds crazy but it was quite comforting to open it and see his clothes and shoes. Now, I am stalking the mailman and waiting on the form letter. The first day or so was really hard. I cried all the way home when I left the recruiter's office. I still have my moments of teary eyes but at the close of the first week, I am finally starting to settle in. One thing that helped me was reading the pdf files on what happens at boot camp. It made me feel closer to my son to know what he is doing each day.

Did you see the videos also? We sat down and watched those last also. My husband was navy for 6 years. He kept saying they have it easier than we did. Which made me feel a little better. I'm sure I will probably get his box today. Where are you from? We are in Ga.

Watched the videos...thanks! Two of my brothers, my dad & step dad were all Navy, so Kevin is following family tradition! Haven't received the box yet...hopefully soon. My husband & I both work for Fed Ex Freight, so hopefully our sister company gets it to us soon! : )
