Need advice re: how to best support my very introverted Recruit.

He is very introverted and an only child, boot camp is a huge change and challenge. Anyone else in similar situation? How to best support him?

When my sailor was in boot camp,he mentioned another recruit that kept mostly to himself. Because most of boot camp is designed to build teamwork,he stated the other recruits went above and beyond to try and include him in all non training time too. They learn to look out for each other
For some people, never being alone can be difficult and if this is your son, remind him it's not forever.
And remind him over and over how proud you are of him for going beyond his comfort zone and taking on this challenge. It's a brave thing to do.

The best thing you can do is continue to encourage him - stay positive and remind him that this is something he wants!  He'll meet others like himself and I can almost guarantee it's safe to say he'll make friends that will probably turn out to be his best friends for life!  Boot camp is just a short time - make the best of it and then he'll start school and will have the opportunity to get to know others better.  It will work out and he'll do great ~ he'll probably even surprise you with the friendships he makes!

Hang in there!  Hugs to both of you ;-D

You replies are very encouraging, especially the part about them looking out gifceach other and being inclusive.  He’s a very kind-hearted person, so he will be a great friend but it’s hard for him to reach out first.

thanks for advice re: content and tone of my communications.  I have already written four betters CBD hwve followed your advice.

How do I send you a friend request?

NavyVWMx2 - to send a friend request you first go to the persons page that you want to friend.  Then there is a button in the middle of the page under their profile picture that says "add friend".  Click on that.  You have the option to include a short message to them if you want.  Then they receive the request and can accept it.  To see if you have any friend requests look at the top left side of your page - under your profile name.  If you have any requests pending it will show up there under "friends - invite".

This sounds very similar to my son who is also currently at BC. This experience will help him grow:)
