OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I went ahead and added class 1134 to the heading, but if u guys ever want to start your own discussion, let me know! You are welcome here...
As far as Class numbers/names I believe the classes that are only MM's are class#A, and those that are
mixed EM's and ET's are class#MT, so I'm guessing it's probably 1134MT for your son. I haven't added anything to my mail or boxes, just CLASS 1133, and everything is getting to my son just fine!
It's great that we all communicate, since our sailors do get so busy. In some ways, I think it's harder than when they were in BC! :)

Hi friends.
so, the latest from RD...I asked if they had a test today, and he said no, BE3 is on Tuesday.
He said class 1133 set the record for class average on BE2. Question for y'all...what does BE stand for?

I don't know what it means, sorry, but I heard from DM today (he got the cookies that I mailed Tues) and he also told me how their group is doing very well with test scores and is on course to win some sort of record if that continue at this pace :) Must be a smart group of boys!

Hey friends.
haven't heard from y'all for awhile. Enjoyed our weekend in Charleston with our sailor. Got to meet
Justin, Dave and another young man from MA. (can't remember his first name) One of them was from northern California, not far from where we lived when we were in Santa Rosa! :) Anyhow, BE stands for basic electrical test, and the class average on BE2 was 3.69, the one where they set a new class average...there are 27 in class 1133.
What do you hear from your sailors? Hoping that everything is going well.

Ok, time to check in. It's too bad we don't have more people on this group; it would be nice to compare experiences with many others, especially from similar classes and ratings. From my kid's BC division, there are four that I know of who ended up in SC and all of them are MMs, though they all seem to have requestedd to be either ETs or EMs. I thought it's just weird to have such a high ratio of the same rating from one division.
So, A class for my MM is going along fine. Is set to graduate on August 12th and I'm counting the days for him to be home! His friend from grade school is also in the same class so they plan to take their girlfriends to San Diego for a day or two. Otherwise, he told me he has no big plans. Power school is set to start in October and I'm so glad he gets to start before the holidays so that he can again be home during Christmas since I don't plan to make a trip to SC until maybe Power grad. He was also told that there will be 8 months of grad hold. Thought it was unusual that they were given a timeline but I did warn him that the Navy can change these dates without rhyme or reason so that he can be prepared.
Haven't asked him about how he was doing in class as that seems to be a touchy subject with him. He's said something along the lines of having made the sacrifice of giving up his old life so that we should trust him to be smart about doing the right thing while in nuke school. Makes sense, I guess. Kids!!!

Hey, Maddie!
sounds like things are moving right along. Aug 12th is less than a month away, and I'm excited you'll get to see
him again. I'm hoping my son will want to come home after A school and chillax, since he'll be on T track during the holidays and his time off will be very limited. Hoping my son can stay "under the radar" and continue to make good choices. Especially now that he has his car! and, he's 21 today. Do we ever stop worrying? :)

My son will get out of boot camp 7/22. Then straight to Nuke school. We'll drive 10 hours to see him for a few hours. Wish they could give us a little more time.
I have no clue what happens at A school. Can I go visit him? Can i talk to him? Will he need his truck??
I can't get any info from him-they haven't let them make phone calls in a month!!
Please tell me this is worth it.

on the Nuke Moms main page under discussions, check out "Your Sailors Schedule Upon Arrival at GC" lots of good info about phases and such.
They can have their electronics and stuff, including cell phone, so communication is much better IF they choose to communicate. After they "class up" they are so busy with classes, PT, study hours, etc that many of us have gone several days to even weeks without actually talking to our sailors. I usually send mine a text message to call his mom when he gets a chance and usually hear back pretty quickly.
And yes, it's worth it!!! My son is much the same guy I raised only new and improved!!! He has completed A School, T Track, and Power School and is now on Grad Hold waiting for Prototype. He's really matured a lot in the last year and a half but it still the goofy, funny loving guy we know and love.

Hi Ladies, havent been around here for a while, so i figured I stop in and say Hi! I just booked my mini-vacation to see my son at the end of July, Im being selfish, but I dont care :) No One was invited to come with me as I want to spend the weekend alone with him, I booked us a Hotel on Folly Beach (about an hour away from Goose Creek) and cant wait. S is almost half way thru with power school, and boy has he had his ups and downs, I agree with your Son Maddie, they did have to give up thier old life, and will be rewarded handsomely with a new appreciation for themselves, This phase has been the hardest for S, and I think has finally let go and realized this is my life until October (PS Graduation for him is 10/07) and it is all finally falling into place. I too was told that the Prototype Hold could be as long as 8 months, S is hoping to come to New York for this phase, but would have to stay at GC until then.
Swim4life - Happy "Birth" day to you and Happy birthday to your Son - we too spend S 20th Bd apart and it wasnt easy - try to enjoy the day and as I did not only celebrated his Bd, but celebrated mine too! - Enjoy the memories

I ask myself where he would be right now, and what he would be doing if not Navy. I think he would be waiting tables, living paycheck to paycheck, unable to ever get ahead enough to go back to school and use his gigantic cranium for something. You're not alone. These moms/wives/gfs are "salt of the earth" people....

Thanks for the welcome back! - Ive been hanging around with the Mom's of June ship dates to RTC, my nephew left on June 27, with a PIR date of 08/26, Trying to convince my sister to join but she has been hesitant so far. It weird going thru this again, Ive already sent 7 letters :)
We were lucky to fly my son home on 4th of July weekend when he proposed to his girlfriend of 5 years, It was a short trip home, but a trip we will all remember. It was great to give him that opportunity to get a break from school, well deserved and well need. PS is tough, I think they go in hard to see how can make it and who can not. he had a big test today and Im still waiting to hear how it went, I usually get a call around 9:30 after his study hours.
