I too got a Mother's Day call and was pleased as it's the first year he's not been home to be reminded.  Also got a call Sat and I catch him on fb chat a lot in the evenings and it's fun to see his comments on things that other friends and relatives write on fb....makes such a difference to me to have that communication.  I have a box of chocolate chip cookies I plan to mail today with a note telling him to "share with his friends":) He said they get notified every day whether they have mail or not and if they do they can go pick it up. I didn't ask about the bugs yet.  Guess he will figure that one out.  I have a friend in Savannah and she used to complain about the d... gnats when she first moved down that way.  D said some of them went into Charleston again Sat night and went to a pizza place.  Said the base food was good and better than GL, although he generally liked the food at GL, but got tired of it after a while cause they served the same things a lot.  I guess they wear the camo's when they work picking up trash/cleaning and the black slacks and tan shirt uniform (I forget what they call that one) when they go out in town.  Love getting all this info now.  Have a great day!

Hi  - Hope everyone had a wonderful Mothers Day! ~ The weather was beautiful All weekend in NY.

I got a 49 Min 36 Sec. call for my PO, last night, it was so nice that he had he had the time to talk, definately could of went without hearing some of the stories :) seems what little social life he has he's making very good use of.  He talked about Folly Beach, and said 3, thats 3 times that "he wished I was there"  it warmed my heart..

Macdog - that uniform is called NSU - Enlisted Service Uniform aka Peanut Butters. - I have to say it is one of my favorite.  when S was home last month after graduation from A School, he went to the recuiters office and ran the dep meeting and PT for the night as I walked in the room and he took my breathe away..  Hes standing there, full uniform, wool bombers jacket, His PO  pins on that, and his cover too. oh yes cant forget about the aviator sunglass..  so handsome.

Once D gets to phase 2, he will be allowed to wear civilian clothes, be prepared to send some down to him.  S lost a lot of weight so went to buy new clothes for him self.  The best part was I didnt pay for it :)

glad to hear that our Sailors made some calls for Mother's Day!  pmgcakes, next time you'll have to catch a picture of your son looking so good!  :)
My son said he's in Class 1132A.  Did anyone else get a class number yet?

hey, I'm posting it!

  no, I haven't heard.  I can always add/change it!  :)  thanks, Maddie!

Got a call from my son today. He PIR'd 4/29. Still not in classes. He has been cleaning the base. This week is the last of his INDOC. He is supposed to start classes on Monday.

Hi there,

My son just PIRd on 5/6 so I am not sure if he will "class up" with your group or not.  I just got on here to get some info on his A school.  He is an EM and said that he is an "Indoc" at this point.  So I was wondering how long til his class starts?

hi Shanermansmom!  We're thinking our guys will start on Monday?  My son hasn't said that yet,

but we're hoping!  Let us know what he says, or if he mentions a class number!  I'll add you to our

list, and welcome!

Shanerman:  My son, D is an EM too,  He had PIR 4-29 and has been there waiting for his class. I bet they will be together.

Maddie, I asked my son if he's part of class 1132A that starts on Monday and he said no, the ETs have

at least another week!  :(    I'll wait until next week when I know more and hopefully have a class number

to post.  He said that he thought just the MMs were starting!  Have u heard anything else?

Just talked to my son. He had a Psych. test today. His room mate who is graduating in 2 mos says they won't get the results for another 4 mos. Still not assigned classes. Anybody know what is up with that? They rushed them off RTC to Goose Creek and have them cleaning the base. Am I missing something?

Joann, I get the feeling that there is a minimum number they want in each class to make it work.

RD seems to think the MMs start Monday, but he didn't say anything else about EM or ETs.  Just that

he thought they had at least one more week.  I think one of the reasons they rush them out of RTC is to make room for new DIVs that are forming and need the bunk space!  I don't think it's so much a rush to GET THEM somewhere, but to get them OUT of RTC!  LOL...I'm going to send another care package with his tennis shoes and some other stuff in the meantime.  Let me know if you hear anything else!  :)
