Penny: Please let us know about graduation from A school. Congrats to your son.  Is there a ceremony that we could plan to attend?  My Ohio boy has never seen storms like there have been down there either...he said crazy lightning. He also saw a gator during a run around the base property and sent a pic to my other son on his phone :) Appreciate the info from everyone.

goliathmacdog,

A GATOR???!!!!  holy cow...no wonder my son (who isn't a runner) is doing better with his

running!  Talk about a motivator!  LOL

Though I would never ever ever profess to be anywhere near an expert on anything Navy Nuke related, my son is graduating Power School next month so we are about a year into this Nuke thing.

Anything that I can share with anyone, I'd be happy to.  What an experience this has been.

Can't wait for PS grad next month 6/17!!!!

thank you!  as you can tell, we love having you here to help us!  PS grad is going to

be awesome...I'm excited for you!  :)

It's Friday (doing a little dance) and Penny's son graduates today, it's payday, and I

actually got my BED MADE!  lol, I know.  It doesn't take much to make me happy!  Have

a great weekend, y'all...btw, RD received his "MEDICINE CHEST" in a shoebox and loved it.

It told him, yeah, you'll be like Tony Curtis and everyone will be coming to you for supplies!  :)

Unfortunately I was not able to attend his A-school graduation.  John asked me to just stay home as it isn't that big of a deal (compared to the rest OR PIR) and also he had a flight to come home within only a few hours of the graduation.  However, I really wish I had been there as my son is the MM class honorman and so was the very first one on the stage followed by the MT and the ET honorman and since he was the very first, he was also the very last.  I could have gotten pictures !!!!!  Apparently they have a special pinning, etc. for the honormen.  That said, he's already on an airplane as I type this on his way home.

Regarding power school, you can bet that I will be there for that one as I've heard that it is the one not to miss.

Uh GATORS .... don't like the sounds of that one darn bit.  Used to live in Florida and I surely got my fill of them there.  They are pretty scary and sure wouldn't want one chasing me.

Well, got his room all arranged for his coming home just waiting for my boy to climb into it and know that he is home.  He said he will be wearing his dress whites!!!  Also, I went to the USO at our local airport and made arrangements for us to be able to get a gate pass directly to the gate when he comes in.  Don't know if his girlfriend will be able to get one as she isn't directly related but we'll see how persuadable they are when we get there about 11:00 tonight - hopefully it will be fairly quiet and they don't fight us!!  lol

TN mom, one day I will be in your shoes...actually in about 7 months (hopefully).  My son said that Power School is supposed to start for him on June 27 or 28...

Well I have read and laughed so now   I'm writing  Class numbers its nice to know if you see some one in the same class # its like finding a long lost family member . Other than that  my son perfers MM3 than anything yes he evened signed his mother days card with MM3  To bad we named he such a common name where everyone in his class has the same name MM3

Well I'm at Powerschool level one of the lucky ones I think he has had only 2 times mandatory study once in A and once in Power he likes vol hrs he also keeps busy with softball tennis and looking for cars..LOL  I do know on sundays like in HS he studies.  and we have talked about drinking but he informed me mom The navy preaches more than you!  and they make you listen LOL  good night every one

My husband had a long telephone chat with D today and he understands the EM's will start class Monday. He also saw a big snake while running on base property and the gators are apparently "everywhere".... Looking forward to hearing about life down there after classes start.

hey goliathmacdog,

it must be a whole new world down there.  My son was born when we were down in GA, but I don't remember ever seeing

one (gator) while we lived there...guess we were too far inland?  So glad your son starts class..hoping they all do!  I know

my son gets a little lost when he has too much "free time" now.  He went to Charleston on Friday night and yesterday with some of the guys.  I think they had a great time.  He posted a few pics on fb...the first time I've seen him in the khaki/dark pants!   As far as snakes, the reporters that have been covering the flood here in Memphis have said more than once that this time of year is water moccasin baby hatching time!  yuck.  we've been fortunate so far, but have been putting "care packages" together with the gals at church for some of the shelters....

thanks for the info, Irene.  I kind of assumed that our nukes would get a few psych evaluations along

the way, maybe one in each phase!  If my son can't handle the stress, I would much rather know that now, and

I'm sure the Navy would, too.  Also, just wanted to thank you for creating the group NUKE A SCHOOL FAQ, as

I've learned a lot from that.  Now, we need to get you some fuzzy bunny slippers and a cold drink!  :)  hugs

I just im'ed on facebook with D and he said that he does NOT start class tomorrow...don't know what my husband was thinking when he told me that.  He must have misunderstood....Sorry. I may talk to D on the phone later after he eats and if he knows anything for sure I will let you all know first hand from now on.  He said that they will be having a class about local wildlife and safety relevant to that.  This will be hard for D as he was my kid that used to bring home every turtle, frog, and other critters he could find.  He is curious about all animals, but we don't have such dangerous ones here :)   We are still feeding 2 of his turtles and I doubt he will get to bring them to where he is for a long time....looks like I inherited 2 turtles, a rabbit, 2 fish tanks, 3 dogs and I forget what else....my other kids are helping, but D was always the one to drag in all the animals :)

thanks, goliathmacdog...sounds like u have the beginnings of a good petting zoo!  :)  I am very

interested in what the local wildlife is...gators, snakes, must be some other fun critters, too...no worries.  I don't know why, but I'm guessing they start a week from tmw.  No, I wouldn't put money on it!

Can't wait to hear from our MM moms...I think they did start!  go 1132A!
