My 24 y/o son swore in July 7th and shipped to GL that evening.  That was truly an amazing experience.  Very rushed and very short time to spend with him, but all in all it opened my eyes to a whole new world.

Watching him swear in and seeing him stand at attention, remaining focused, enthusiastic and  strong was probably the one of my most proud moments of my son!! wow Goosebumps.

My son was staying with his father when he enlisted, they are in So. Cal and I am in N. Cal.  So a lot of the correspondence that he will be allowed in the future will be split between his father, myself and his amazing GF.  I don't think I will be the one receiving any news first hand and I am coming to terms with that.  I just want him to succeed and be great!!

I don't know anything about the Navy.  I am learning a lot through these web sites.  I think today is P3 for him. lol

I guess what I am looking for is fellow moms who can give any advise through this process and share experiences with them.

You say he left for GL 7/8?  And you haven't received the form letter yet?  Hmm Should be there any day!

AOMomma,

you should have received the "box"  and the Letter by now.  I heard they come fedex. My SR sent them to his father and his father relayed info to me.

Hang in there it will come.

What do you think would be the reason they have him on P hold?

But its been nearly two weeks and other divisions have been formed.  I sure hope your recruiter can give you answers.  Keep me posted.

AOMomma, MOS is a term used by the Army and the Marines. In the Navy, the term is rating. The rating has nothing to do with a recruit's assignment to a division, except for those in an 800 division and some in a 900 division. The RDC's do not differentiate between the recruits due to their ratings.

There is NO WAY that he is still in P-HOLD at this point. If he were still in P-HOLD it would be due to a problem that is preventing him from being able to join a division and you would have heard something in that case.

The recruiter should be able to tell you the division number.

I hope you hear something soon either in a letter or call from your recruit or from the recruiter. Your recruit will be able to write a "real" letter Sunday for the first time if he was held in P-HOLD for others and did not have holiday routine on the 19th.

There is info for you in Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit on how to get the info to fill in the blanks on The Form Letter if you do receive a "real" letter without having received The Form Letter.

Where in N Cal are u?  I am in N Cal too.  My son was sworn in at Sacramento and shipped out that day 7/8

EuansMom,

I am North of Sacramento.  My son lived with his father in SoCal, so I drove to El Sengundo for his swearing in.  He left 7/7.  Do you know what division your SR is in?

EsMom, I am in the Yuba City-Marysville area.  HELLO fellow NorCal NAVY mom!!!

My son swore in down south 7/7 and left that same day.  What division is your son in?  Whats your PIR date?
