Jingle Bells… Jingle Bells… Jingle and the way to the Crew of the

     USS RENTZ

3 Females and 240 Males Aboard

We are heading back to sea and sending out love out to the USS Rentz FFG 46.  They are currently assisting the Coast Guard performing drug enforcement off the coast of South America.  They are about midway of their eight-month deployment and ready for some love from home!

We would like to send each sailor a small VHS sized box filled and wrapped as a Christmas gift to be opened on Christmas morning.  If you pack them carefully you can fit eight of this smaller box in a large FPO box.  That is a total of 300 VHS boxes...  are you ready moms??

Pillowcases are a go!  They will have them set out for the guys to choose from on Christmas day.

Remember it is warm where they are- still in the 90 degree range every day!  So there is no need of warm hats or gloves for this group... even Santa will want to slip into his bathing suit for this delivery!

Let's show them our mom love and send the very best for the Christmas  Hannuka  Kwanza Holiday… Season

Did I forget anyone?

Hi Everyone hope all had a good day. Got the last of my stuff for my boxes today. I have to say it really lifted my spirits shopping for the gifts for the sailors :) The only problem Im having is finding the little boxes to put into the bigger box. Went to 2 diff post offices and they said all they have was the bigger box. Even when I called USPS the 3 sizes they send you in their military pack are not the size of a VHS tape.Could anyone let me know where to find those smaller boxes.

Alice - try Office Depot - call first but my local office depot carries them for the post office.  Also if you go on USPS' website and put in your zip code and look for satelite locations to drop mail, like grocery stores and stuff, sometimes they will carry the supplies.  So, for instance, I have a Sprouts that has a small USPS drop site - they also carry supplies.  They always have the small boxes.  The other thing I did - so that I'm ahead of the game for the "next" time.  Today I went on USPS' website and ordered 50 of the small boxes to have shipped directly to me.  They are free and it's free shipping to you.  While you are at it, you can have them ship you the large boxes, they will ship the APO/FPO boxes AND they will even ship you the customs forms!

Hi Alice,

I'm sorry to hear your having a hard time locating the boxes.  I would suggest going to one of the larger post offices.  In my town we have a small PO and half the time they don't have the boxes.  When I go to the larger PO I've been able to get what I need.

I hope this helps.

It does feel wonderful to send out these packages to our sailors! :)

Thank You HuskerFan for all the great info.  I have an Office Depot close by that I will go to tomorrow, and I'll def go on the USPS website to place my order so I'm all ready to go for next time :)   Do you know if the smaller boxes have a special name or # because when I asked at the post office and on the phone today with USPS I must of asked for the wrong thing becase they both said there were no free ones that size but ones I could purchase for $3.00 ea.

Thanks HuskerFan for all the great advice. I have an Office Depot close by that I'll stop at tomorrow. Do you know if there's a special name or # for those smaller boxes because when I asked the post office and the USPS today on the phone they both said the only boxes that size were $3.00 ea.
