Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Orders without security clearance done?

Is that usual? My husband has been on s security hold for a long time. We aren't sure why it has been since October since graduating a school but still nothing. He hasn't done one bad thing in his life! He's a great guy. He was recently told he now may get orders for his job but just won't be able to do some of the things needed with a security clearance. As a wife, I'm relieved he may get orders but I'm setting myself up for disappointment. Is this normal for them to give orders under this circumstance?

Yes, it happens sometimes because the Navy wants to get him doing something instead of having him on hold indefinitely. It will limit some of the things he will be permitted to do and may keep him from going into some places and may also limit the billets that he can be offered, but at least he will be doing something.

Security clearance can be affected by lots of factors, not just if a person has done some "bad thing." The one that I see most often is a credit issue that was not resolved or that was resolved, but not long enough ago that it is still on the Sailor's credit report.

I checked my "mypage". Thank you! Do you think I gave too much info? My husband does have student loan debt. He graduated from a private school! lol. It's not as much as a lot of others have though thankfully.

You are very welcome. Hopefully, whatever the issue is, it will be addressed and he will be able to get the clearance he needs to open up more opportunities for him.
